Thanks Mark. I like it gonna have to build and try it. On a side note, has anybody damaged the guts of a carto when slotting or punching? I have been slotting mine right now whit a hack saw and smoothing the slot with a fine triangle file. My Boba's bounty seems to work well with a slotted carto. My other juices do better on punched cartos as they are thinner.

Punching kind of worries me a bit cause I know the point of the punch/screw is penetrating into where the coil and wiring is. Slotting... not so much.

Still a noob at this tank thing.

Yep, punched too deep a time or two and killed a couple of cartos. That's why it's a good idea to practice on a dead one :) With this set up it's pretty easy, once the screw hits the carto I give it to full turns like Mark suggested and it's perfect for me. This screw doesn't have a long point on it so it doesn't go too deep on just 2 turns.

I did dig up a hex head wrench but honestly haven't had to use it. I've been able to grip the hex head on the screw tight enough to turn it and punch cartos just using my fingers :)

Damn girl! you've got some strong fingers! Milking cows?? I did it with fingers only, but it hurt. The wrench is painless. I like no pain!

Did you consider using those Drill-stoppers where you screw a nut into the drill-bit?
The normal set screw collars didn't work because the wall thickness (the part the set screw goes through) wasn't large enough. The hub, with about an 8-9 mm wide body, has enough room for the screw to get some bite, even with the point on the screw.

I'm sure other things would work fine, what I posted was just things I could find that were reasonably easily available.

Psyched -- I should be getting a new hub in, 7/16", to punch one of Wharf's IO6 sleeves for use on the VVPV :)

Not yet....but I know by looking at it, it's a great idea. I dont like the way the saddle valve skitters off to the side of the carto. With this, there is no place for the screw to go but IN the carto.

I've seen other "similar" ideas that people like, but paid a lot more money for them :)

I will be ordering my parts now! Sometimes it just takes someone to point you in the right direction.

drillspot also has Model: 68514410419 SKU: 156362, $6.48, free shipping. It's a 7/16" hub that's the right size to punch Wharfrat's IO6 sleeves, for use with a VVPV. I use the 1/4-20 sheet metal screw, about 3-1/2 turns, just below where the bottom of the DT is when on the sleeve; VVPV tubing goes in, snug.

The Wharfrat sleeve is a DT adapter, goes from an IO6 to a standard 510/901 diameter.

The VVPV with an IO6 is a really nice combination :)
