Hi everyone,

I will probably ramble so the short-attention span folks might want to duck out now. :D

I just recently started to try to DIY. Ordered about 30 TFA flavors from Wizard Labs, including EM and AP.

I tend to like bakery/savory flavors. Some favorites are almost anything from five pawns, Jet Fuel Papi Churros, vaping Monkey Monkey Cream, Suicide Bunny Mother's Milk, vape Addict's California Blues (blueberry cheesecake, heavy on the cheesecake), Ben Jonson's Cr3am, etc. Not so much into the fruity/tropical other than perhaps a dragon fruit & mango mix we have. I vape 6mg for the most part. Also like spicy-ish stuff like 5 Pawns Absolute Pin.

I'm using PG and VG from Essential Depot and my nicotine is 48mg VG base. I aim for 50/50 or 70/30 and I'm using a calculator. I'm using glass bottles and steeping in a UC, 30 on 30 off for several hours.

I've only tried a few recipes but I'm just not getting a "creamy" base to anything I've made yet. I tried RWhy4 but used hazelnut praline instead of caramel because that was all I had. It was better, but still had the same problem of the flavor seeming to "float" on the base with an almost chorine-like faint background. The flavors seem very "bright" and poppy, not deep or complex.

I have Bavarian Cream, Whipped Cream, French Vanilla, and Bourbon Vanilla. Marshmallow and Toasted Marshmallow. Those are probably the closest creamy flavors I have so far, but even the Bavarian Cream doesn't seem to stand out in any mix.

I do have a couple of orders on the way with flavors like Sweet Cream, Cheesecake, and Vanilla Custard.

Is it just that I don't have the right flavors in hand yet?

My only close-to-successful mix so far is a chocolate cola - 5% cola, 5% double dark chocolate, 3% bourbon vanilla. It's not super creamy but it is pretty good and I'm happy with it as a starting point (I will probably increase the flavor a tiny bit).

So any recommendations for flavors that create a really good creamy base would be appreciated. Thanks!!

How long did you let it steep? Creams take a couple of weeks.

The RWhy4 (with Bavarian Cream) steeped for several days before I got the UC, and it's gone through maybe 4 hours of steeping in that (from what I understand each hour in the UC takes off about a week of steep time). That's good to know though, that they take longer. :) The UC definitely made a huge difference, the color changes of the stuff I've made so far was very obvious after a few 30 minute cycles, and they smelled better and vaped better. Just not sure when to call them "done."

I have and used Vanilla Cupcake in a blend but I can't remember which now, only that it didn't really show up. I'll try it again with something else!

(Edited to add: I just dissolved some EM in PG and might try a couple of drops - though I've heard that's the same as Marshmallow?)

EM is the same as Cotton Candy - same thing, different name. I've never heard marshmallow is the same as EM though.
Cotton Candy Flavor (TFA)

I'm sure I never heard it either, I was just remembering incorrectly. Thanks for the info (as it happens I didn't buy Cotton Candy; now I'm glad!).

Hi Coelli:)

I like several flavors to add a certain creamy texture and taste. Have you tried vapingzone.com for their super concentrated alcohol based flavors or their gourmet line? Also some good custard and cream flavors from NaturesFlavours can be bought at ecigexpress.com and highdesertvapes.com (each carries some flavors that the other does not...but the largest selection, by far at ecigexpress. They carry a huge assortment of many other different brands too.) FlavourArt also has cream and custards.

Good luck!

Sue

Hi Sue! :)

Actually I just placed an order earlier on ecigexpress for some specific stuff for a recipe and then added a couple more. All of them were FA or FW. I got:

Cookies & Cream
Cookie
Custard
Butterscotch
Strawberries & Cream

Hopefully one or more of these will work for me. I don't smoke (any more), I vape so I don't snack or overeat, so flavor is kind of important to me! :D I'm trying not to wind up with a thousand flavors I never use, but I guess that's part of the discovery process...

Just giving my 2 barks for the little puppy there: Yeah the Vanilla Swirl is creamy too. The Orange Cream is WAY creamy, just like an orange-creamcicle. The Strawberries & Cream was really not for me. The Caramel Candy might sometimes help for more earthier mixes like tobacco. Vanilla Swirl and Caramel Candy are both potent flavors so little dab'll do ya.

Coconut Extra also has a creamy buttery taste to me but others think I'm nuts. No argument there.

Welcome to the world of DIY. I'm fairly new myself to making my own. I'm with you on preferring deserts though a little iffy on the creams. I order my stuff from WL so we've got the same concentrates. I've made a black cherry marshmallow I'm loving. It's 8% marshmallow and 2-3% black cherry. One thing that might make a dif on those percentages is I use all vg, no pg. Also the energy drink WL has is pretty good around 8-9%.

You mentioned a faint chemical taste hiding in the back round: some ppl will let their juice breath for 24hrs (cool dark spot with the cap off) let's some of those harsh chemicals escape. But I typically here about that when they use 5% alcohol in their mix. IMO pg tends to cause a chemical taste. I'm bias. Best of luck!

Maybe not a thousand, but just a couple hundred if you're luckier than I was in the beginning
Yes, discovery & a lot of experiments (in 3 ml batches, or less) ...and learning which ones are vapeable right away or need a month or more of steep time. If you end up with some batches that aren't quite "right" toss them into a separate bottle and make Frankenstein vapes, which sometimes become awesome after a few months and you'll wish you remembered how you made that one! Lol

PG def gives a chemical taste IMO so when I use a flavor that's PG based I only use a drop or two. Sometimes too much flavor gives off a perfume that I don't like also. I use 100% VG nic base so I'm bias too lol.

The first time I tried cookie, I was like  what the? As I recall, there was a picture of a chocolate chip cookie above the descriptions....turns out it's just the cookie "dough" aspect without sugar or chocolate chips or anything else lol

Keep us posted. I like hearing different peoples "take" on all the flavors out there :)

I have mostly FW flavorings and haven't found anything that gives a creamy taste. I've tried Bavarian Cream, Marshmallow, and Sweet Cream (not sweet or creamy). I know it can be done based on the taste of Moo Juice but I haven't discovered where the creamy base comes from.

My biggest challenge right now is chocolate. MBV S'Mores and Mountain Oaks Vapors Eskamo Kisses are two of my favorites and are very good sweet chocolates so I know it can be done. I have tried FW Double Chocolate and Dark Chocolate and, although OK, have a bitter taste. Adding anything doesn't mask the bitterness. FW Milk Chocolate is said to taste just like Double Chocolate. I started to add TFA Double Chocolate to my last order, but it doesn't get very good reviews. I think I'm going to go a different direction and use Marshmallow or Bavarian Cream as a base and add chocolate in small amounts and see if that makes any difference. Any suggestions are welcomed.
