I made my first DIY juice today.

Using 100mg nic, PG/VG, and TFA flavourings.

30ml batch: 8.5ml PG, 15ml VG, 3.6ml nic, 3ml flavour.

Flavour broke down to: 1ml Caramel Capoccino, 1.5ml Waffle, 0.5ml Maple Syrup.

I was so keen to try this that after only 5hrs with a few bottle shakes, I loaded a couple of ml into my KFv4.

I took three or four light puffs to try it.

It was okay, a nice Capoccino flavour, but with a strange twang. Hard to describe, but it tickled the roof of my mouth, a little peppery mixed with a cold sensation (Think smoking menthol cigs).

I got distracted by a trip to the supermarket. 30mins later outside the market I took another 10 or so puffs. Same experience.

15 minutes shopping later, it all went wrong!

First I went a bit hot and cold. Then my forehead broke out in a proper sweet.

I felt faint and had some shortness of breath. Hoped I wasn't about to go down, and tried to push through.

I certainly felt anxious and jittery.

Went to the bath room and through some water on my face and relieved myself. Felt a bit better.

After about another 5 minutes I came good. Felt ok to drive home.

That was about 45 minutes ago and I feel ok back at home.

What a ignominious first DIY!

I'm now too scared to try this batch or a Strawberry and Spearmint batch I made at the same time :(

Also, it's possible where you got the nic from, they didn't mix it well, and you got a hot spot. I'm not sure I should recommend this, but I guess you could try shaking the nic up real good to mix it up, then make a small batch of about 6mg of nic, and adjust as needed.

Thanks guys, come to think of it I didn't shake the nic bottle before use. Is this standard practice?

This is my first DIY and my first bottle of nic.

I just tried to man up and give the second batch a try. Got the KFv4 wicked, added a little juice to the wick and hit the button without the tank and chimney on.

Wow, the vapour smelt so strong of nic, I backed away fast and won't be vaping that.

I'm getting the Derringer and shop made juice out while I think this over.

Yes, every time you mix your own, your Nic solution must be shaken up really well before use as the nicotine settles down in the bottle. Pg and Vg do not as they are pure. The flavoring I am not sure but I shake them up well before using as well just to make sure. Glad we got to help you out in your situation.

I appreciate all the input, but still feel unsure as too what went wrong.

Most think the nic level was too strong, either from a mistake by me (possible), or by the vendor when mixing the nic.

But I know next to nothing about the vendor or their reputation, they were simply the only people I could find in Kuala Lumpur selling PG/VG/Nic and flavourings.

So I'm concerned that it's equally possible that any of the ingredients could be bad, or a cheap non USP version of what it's supposed to be. Worrying.

I guess the first step will be to check the nic content of the base.

Can anyone advise me on the best way to do this?

Ok. Read up on Nic testing, looks like I need to find .12N Sulphuric Acid and Bromothlymol Blue.

Man I can't begin to explain how disappointed I feel about the way this has turned out.

I'm determined to stick with the DIY, but I may need to slow down a bit, so as not to poison myself in the process. Lol.
