So I've noticed a few things.

A) Not a whole lot of steady contributions to the recipe database. As a DIY newbie, I RELY on you guys to feed me recipes!!! :D

B) Database could use some organization. I really like how the Homebrewtalk forums has their database: Recipe Database - Home Brew Forums2/ Organized by style (in this case: tobacco flavors, fruit flavors, desert flavors, etc)

C) No rating system; I'm pretty sure the above linked site uses vbulletin as well, is there any way to incorporate user ratings to submitted recipes?

OR, perhaps make a separate site, and post links to it in all of the PV forums, maybe make it a community wide database, instead of just a forum database. More exposure will benefit all the DIY'ers.

Just some observations from a DIY newbie, looking to make things easier for everyone :vapor:

Not an extremely conducive comment towards compliance. There is a ton of recipes in the E-liquid Recipes - E-Cigarette Forum If none are to your liking, then perhaps you should woe us with your concoctions :D

I like the idea, just for the ability to sort out what they are if nothing else. A rating system would be nice too, might help people decided to try new recipes and post their own. I've made a few found there and always liked them - though I probably tweaked them a bit for my own personal tastes. ;)

What I find frustrating is when members post a recipe and then do not mention what brand of flavoring there using.

Exm:

46% 48mg PG Base
34% VG
11% Amaretto
7% Vanilla
2% Cotton Candy

Here is an easy to use recipe because it uses Percentages. But not knowing what brand of Flavoring used, it is difficult to replicate the posters results. If all the Flavoring were at the same concentrations, it wouldn’t matter. But flavoring varies dramatically in both taste and strength.

There are a ton of recipes posted and you are more then welcome to post your own. Be inventive! When I try a new dessert, drink, or candy I try and recreate that flavor. :p

This I understand. It would be easier to sort through the recipes if they were in some sort of categorized system.

As Switched stated, flavor is highly subjective! I have tried some of the recipes listed and did not like them. Others I did but had to tweak to fit my personal taste. This is why it is best to always try a new recipe in 0 nic and very small quantities.

When I post a recipe, I always try and use 2 different methods so that it is easy for everyone. Example below:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/e-liquid-recipes/76283-cafe-mocha.html

It might be useful to have a standard format for posting recipes.

I'm with Switched and Ast_Isis - flavor ratings would not work for me.

As an example, when I first broke into e-cig use, both RY4 and 555th were getting top reviews by a lot of people. So, going on other's ratings, I bought some of each.

I still throw up a little in my mouth just thinking about the flavor. To me, they are revolting!

I think a rating system similar to netflix's would be somewhat helpful. I guess basically a genome of e juice flavors could be born. Basic ratings of flavors, categories, and even ratings of other users [ie: people you feel you closer match or don't [user quality rating]]. I think that would better suit a rating system. Yes, flavors are subjective, but there's got to be a little common ground?

I' will second that. Most that I have tried are gross.
I think the most important part is finding the right vendor for the flavor you want to make. My taste bud's are telling me that eating it and vaping it are two distinctly different things. I still cannot find a vendor who's flavors vape like they taste. Probably just me though:(
