DIY Eliquid Help? Ingredients?

I have been searching online for DIY ingredients and decided to go with Wizard Labs, PG 250ml, Vg 250 ml, 10 different flavor concentrates. 2 questions when it comes to Nicotine Solutions, Do i need 24mg/m l24mg/ml Nicotine Solution to make a target 18mg nicotine mixes based on 50/50 pg/vg. Next question is, if i wanted a 50pg/50vg mix 1.8% nicotine do i need to purchase the following items Propylene Glycol USP, Vegetable Glycerin USP, USP Nicotine Solutions(nicotine solution is either pg or vg, Im going with the vg Nicotine solution). Or do i need either pure pg or vg and nicotine in either pg or vg and flavor concentrate? Gotta go to work, I appreciate all answers in advance.

1) You can get any nic solution and break it down when you're actually mixing. I just started DIY and I purchased 36 mg of nic. The calculator will tell you the amount for each liquid. If you buy 100mg of nic, be VERY careful when mixing not to get it on your skin!!

2) Yes. PG you can get at Wizard Labs and VG at Walmart in the pharmacy section.

I stole this from scubabatdan for you.

Here is a guide to making your own juice, it might help the new guys and gals out there:

Ok so you are tired of the vendors taste or price and think you can do better. Some of the things you will need:

1- Propylene Glycol (PG) Food grade (USP), this is the main liquid of choice among most e-cig users. Some people have an allergies to PG and can only use VG
2- Vegetable Glycerin (VG) Food Grade (USP), or just Glycerin most people use the term interchangeably but VG is made from vegetables and Glycerin is made from animal fats.
3- Distilled water, this is mostly needed for 100% VG mixes to thin the juice out
4- Flavoring, a lot of people use between 10-20% flavoring in their mixes. Some flavors are strong and require as little as 5%
5- Nicotine liquid, this is can be found at most larger online stores. You want unflavored nicotine juice, most places will offer it suspended in either PG or VG. For first timers I recommend 50mg nic juice.
6- Mixing supplies, you will need pipettes, 10ml – 100ml bottles, 1ml(cc)-12ml(cc) syringes, 16ga blunt tip needles

Ok so now you have all the supplies, YAY lets mix. You will need a program to help with the mixing; this takes the guess work out of figuring out the percentages to combine each liquid.
A simple formula for figuring out nic strength manually:

Given:
Liquid#1 - 10ml of 50mg nic juice
Liquid#2 - 30ml of PG

To figure out the strength of the nicotine when they are added together you calculate the following:
Liquid#1 _QTY * Liquid#1_MG + Liquid#2_QTY * Liquid#2_MG / Liquid#1 _QTY + Liquid#2_QTY

Or

10 * 50 + 30 * 0 / 10 + 30
500 + 0 / 40
500 / 40 = 12.5mg

Ok so here is a trick, say you have 5ml of 50mg nic juice and want to make a 10mg juice with 10% flavoring and 20% VG added. Here is how to do it:

5 * 50 = 250mg (This is the total amount of nic in our juice)
Now divide 250mg by 10mg = 25ml total juice
Subtract the 5ml of nic juice from the 25ml and you have 20ml of liquid of any combination that will be added to the nic juice to make 25ml of 10mg juice.

So….

10% of 25 = 2.5ml of flavoring
20% of 25 = 5ml of VG
20 – 5 – 2.5 = 12.5ml of PG

So our total mix is:
5ml of 50mg nic juice
2.5ml of flavoring
5ml of VG
12.5ml of PG

5 + 2.5 + 5 + 12.5 = 25ml of 10mg nic juice with 10% flavoring and 20% VG

Below you can see how our manual numbers can be plugged into the calculator, and the results of what needs to be added together in section 2.

This is where a syringe helps to measure the exact quantities. Or a pipette if you are using drops. I would only use drops when making 1ml total mixes. Of course each dropper is different and you need to measure how many drops from each type of liquid equal one ml so when you move to ml the ratios are the same. But since most people make 10-50ml batches I would stick with ml measurements.

Do i need 24mg/m l24mg/ml Nicotine Solution to make a target 18mg nicotine mixes based on 50/50 pg/vg.
Always best and cheapest to get a higher nic level and then dilute it down.
48 mg would be my choice. Could get 100 mg but safer to start with 48 mg IMO.
Best to get 100% PG Nic juice as it's waterlike and easy to work with. VG is very thick.
PG and VG (both USP/ Food Grade) can be easily and cheaply bought at the pharmacy. VG in the First Aid/ Band Aid Section and PG usually special order- if asked about the PG just tell them you're making some non allergenic soap. VG (Humco Glycerin) is about $3.00- $5.00 for 6 ounces at Walmart last I heard.

Actually if you can find a Tractor Supply they sell a gallon of PG USP for about $20.00

Thanks, for everyone's help. I purchased some flavors and 36mg nicotine in vg, and pg, some pipettes and Pipettes, Syringes, an empty bottles. Made a couple of mixes using the ejuice cal v13 and eJuice Recipe Calculator

The outcome is descent but i may need more flavor than 5% or 10%, some menthol liquid. I will probably add to the cart some nicotine in pg and some plain vg. I know I need to let it steep more so only time and experimenting will help me produce great mixes.
