I started Diy a month ago and as long as you aren't .... Retentive it's really easy.
I had to switch to DIY because I developed a PG allergy and my favorite e-liquid didn't have a pure VG product.
I also was tired of paying $20.00 for a 28ml bottle that I can make myself for around $6.00

It's actually really easy but people make it seem like rocket science. What's it matter if every batch is a little different as long as they taste good.

Below are instructions for a 15-17ml batch Just take out the water and alcohol for a PG blend.

Just take a 3ml Syringe.
Fill that syringe with the flavorings to around 2 1/2 or 3 ml
A. I've found it best to have a signature flavor, this avoids a cancelling effect
so I fill to around 2ml with the signature. Than I add trace amounts of the others.

Than add around 1/2 ml Ever Pure 195 or equivalent and filtered water.
Put in 12-15 ml of your base. I use RTS Vapes 60mg VG. (Edit by classwife: note this is OP's personal level, you would be using your own level of nic)

So simple, don't get intimidated, don't worry if you are a little off in your measurements it will still taste good!!

My most recent concotion delcious from the start and better with steeping was
2ml of TPA Raspberry
1/4ml of TPA Bourbon Vanilla
1/4 ml of Dulce de Leche
1 drop of sweet cream per ml (Optional) I find that the sweet cream mellow the flavor in small amounts.(BEWARE SOME PEOPLE HATE SWEET CREAM)

Than around 3/4 ml of filtered water
and 1/2ml of Everpure 195 (I believe in VG liquids the EverPure makes the flavor Pop)

By the way I never have liked store bought fruit liquids but I love my own concoction.
I've tried Capellas and I think that TPA is better!

Remember TPA designs for vaping and Capellas for food, so Capellas may have things in it that aren't for
vaping. TPA is the safer bet.

I didn't even look at the numbers until you posted Markfm. I came up with a final anywhere between 38-47mg.

Not a bad idea to let folks looking to reproduce the recipe know what the final strength could be.

When I first looked at the mixing style I thought of DaMulta. (I don't see him around much. Too bad, I liked his posts.)

Sorry if I miscalculated, I had 3 ml flavoring and PGA/water, 12 - 15 ml nic base.

12/15 x 60 = 48 mg/ml. 15/18 x 60 = 50 mg/ml.

Net, the math is important -- whether one uses a calculator or does it in their head, it's important to know what your final mix will be, and take care when working with the nic.

Ah, I added the water and PGA in the totals. So it could easily be between 50mg to 38mg depending on which way someone goes with it. Even greater swing if you throw in the additional swings of not being worried about any of the measurements.

Wouldn't work for me. A 2mg difference in my juice makes a difference to me nowdays. (Completely different story when I started vaping though.)

Attention to detail matters, but the actual mixing can be easy. My daily vape, a simple two flavor blend, I make 60 ml every 10 days. Using a few 15ml graduated beakers, it only takes a couple of minutes.

Thanks, Classy. There's nothing wrong with high test if you know what it is :)

I am pretty sure that when OP stated "your base" here he means the base that we each keep on hand to just add flavoring to. Most folks keep their nic/pg/vg premixed and ready to just add flavor so that the end result after adding flavor is your desired nic strength.
I know that I do.

I never have pre-diluted, but that's because my different mixes uses different % flavoring, and I'll make different final strengths for different people. What you do, however, makes a lot of sense :)

This sounds like me, I can make 60 ml of my daily vape in less time than it takes to rinse out the cylinders. I love the graduated cylinders for mixing, I need to pick up a 100ml to mix everything into.

I only have a ten ml graduated cylinder and I love it, need to get more sizes

the only pain in the ... is mixing, but I just put the whole thing in a scalding glass of water and gently swirl it around until its runnier than water, then decant into a bottle. I only lose about 2 drops total doing this. probably ultimately less error than what we don't account for in needles

It doesn't sound like it. Right after he said add your base, he said he uses 60 mg VG.

And this is why they make it sound like rocket science. Little assumptions can make big, dangerous mistakes. It is not that difficult, but you do have to have a good understanding of the math.

... why do they make it seem like rocket science?

Day-um good question on which I'll chip in with my thoughts...

I'll guess that some, if not most, successful vendors probably have 'secret' ingredients, proportions and processes that hook our taste buds, especially while we're dippin' our toes into the vaping pool. Nonetheless, there are VERY FEW vendor flavs that satisfy my 'buds'. Those of ya'll that have been vaping for a while, do you still favor the flavors that caught your n00b fancy?

'In da beginng' too many flavs tasted da same due to my devastated taste buds (TB). As time passed, I started to hate processed foods (too salty). I realized that more flav is not necessarily
better. Now... I realize that there are many DIYers that have much more sophisticated TBs than I, and probably onto a good thing. BUT, I'm not gonna thrash the 'bushes' in search of the 'holy grail' of flavs. I mix and sometimes experiment with my only goal to produce a satisfying flav. Actually, I'm more concerned about finding the 'right' wattage to extract the most from the flavs I mix/vape!

Yes, I do play with some sweeteners, vinegar and lemon juice combos... BUT, if DIY is rocket surgery, I'll just be a passenger.

I DO deeply appreciate and thank all those that generously share their recipes and experience, and luv following the learning curves of those in my 'boat'.

In my case, I have five flavs that I rotate daily. But I'm always on da lookout for da next one!

BTW, I've yet to vape a 'bakky flav that I've enjoyed. But I really want to try da VZ B&M and French Pipe...

Iffy, took me 7 months to find a flavor I could vape all day without blowing out my taste buds. Found PDQ that sweeteners make my mouth go sour. Then most flavors caused a negative reaction. Had to experiment w/Vg & pg to isolate them as the cause. Sadly I can't vape 80% or so of the flavors. On the flip, it makes it KISS too. ;-)

So no, I never did settle on vendor juice from the start. Also agree that less is more most of the time. My all day is a tobacy, but it's easy to liven up by dripping complimentary flavors here and there.

The original RY4 caught my noob fancy and I still like those kind of caramel, vanilla with mild tobacco flavours.

Ethyl maltol is great stuff, I think that's one of the main secret ingredients that isn't so secret. HC Caramel is also really good and you can add it to lots of things to add a certain taste that's very addicting.
