Hi guys. I've been vaping for several years and making my own juice for maybe 3+.

I was wondering if anyone had advice on how to get my juice to smoke better. Don't get me wrong, it vapes pretty well and the flavor is awesome, but every once and a while I'll buy some and it just flat out performs better. Are there any secrets I'm missing?

For instance, one of my favorite recent creations had these flavors (all from the Flavors Apprentice):
Peanut butter
Oatmeal
Graham Cracker
Malted Milk
(tiny bit) Butter

And then my mix of PG, VG and 18mg nicotine. It tasted absolutely fantastic, the throat hit was (I suppose) decent, and vapor production was merely 'good'. Are those latter two traits really solely dependent on the PG/VG ratio? I usually do about 80%VG to 20%PG. Isn't VG supposed to be better for vapor? And store bought at 18mg still performs better. Are there other things I could add to improve these traits? I've heard of adding water or everclear or something, but don't know much about it. Some kind of crystals, too. How do retail juices nail all three of these traits? Throat hit, flavor and vapor?

Another quick question: I have a Kayfun lite. (looking to upgrade to a different RBA, btw. Suggestions welcome.). It seems certain flavors especially tend to caramelize on my coils and practically ruin them by day 3. I'm only vaping at ~8 watts with a 1.2 ohm coil. Is it known what causes that or am I alone in this? I've never heard of a non RBA having that trouble..

Yeah, I tend to like the sweeter flavors... It looks more like it's burned on my coil and organic cotton wicking, but I suppose maybe it is just 'gunk'.. It's almost black and flakes off. Not sure that I'll be able to help that.

I wouldn't say I 'calculate' my mixes. It's very... unprofessional. lol. I use a syringe and 'measured drippers' (forgot what they're actually called) to measure the liquids. The formula I've been using for years for my juice (I think I found from this forum somewhere, years ago) is:
2.2ml nic (using 50mg nic)
2.3ml PG/VG
1.5ml flavor

Btw, a diy juice life hack I've discovered is to mix a large amount of PG/VG/Nic in a container in proper ratios (a ~12oz container with a lid in my case), so I just add 4.5ml of that per 1.5ml of flavor.

Is the Kayfun technically not an RTA? I haven't kept up on all the acronyms, but that's just a rebuildable tank attie, right? I thought the Kayfun would be considered an RBA/RTA.

Yes, it is a rba. But the tanks he listed, and many other sub-ohm tanks, with rebuildable decks, will perform much more efficiently. More flavor, more vapor. Also, with those tanks, the nic is delivered more effectively, leading to a possible need to lower the nic. Which is a good thing, because that also effects vapor production. Tastes better, too.:)

Let me give you a diy juice life hack you can even make 10 ml mixes : eJuice Me Up - Best eJuice Calculator

I don't think I explained that very well. My mixes have ~25% flavor (1.5ml per 6ml), something like ~35% nic which somehow comes out to 18mg (2.2ml per 6 - My nic is 50mg cut with VG), and ~40% (2.3ml per 6) PG/VG mix. Of that 40%, 4/5ths is VG, the rest is PG. Sorry, I don't seem to be very eloquent in my speech today...

That recipe is, at least, what I hope I'm mixing. It's been a long time since I've even checked it. But thank you very much for the program! I'd prefer that over a website. I need to organize my flavors a bit better.

dionysuskiss - Thank you for that tip! I had never heard about the increasing of nicotine efficiency. I've been looking for an excuse to lower nicotine for the increase in flavor/vapor. I'll definitely look into it.

Thanks, guys.

80/20 That ratio would not even be possible unless you used 100% vg flavorings, So it makes no sense to be 100% accurate with your ratios instead of using "somehow" or "something like" ? the index label i left above is an ejuice calculator free download.
You want Throat hit, flavor, try a 50/50 mix.

RBA - Rebuildable/replaceable Bottom Atomizer, includes Drippers and Tanks, but most default to tanks.
RDA - Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer,
RTA - Rebuildable Tank/Top Atomizer. Stuff like the Kayfun, lemo ect

For some reason the Genisis tanks are a class by themselves. And some Clearomisers are also in the RBA/RTA category, Subtank.
