So I've recently gotten into DIY juice mixing, after RTS came back (awesome place, love them so much) have had some good success with eJuice me up, and enjoy the entire process thoroughly, I'm still learning though, so playing around with different calculators, and eJuice me up seems to be my favorite, outside of spreadsheets (not much of a spreadsheet guy). I have some questions though, and I've done a search for the program and some opinions for it here on the forums, but have only found one thread. That program is for android platforms called, eliquid Recipe Manager pro (or lite) and I was hoping to get a few more opinions on it, and maybe some deeper comparisons to how close it is to eJuice me up, before I buy it (pro).

The reason I want to get it on my phone is because outside of just downloading eJuice me up on friends/families computers, I want to show them the insides and outs of the process, have got a few friends and family members curious about my eVic and what the hell I have been doing with this entire hobby this whole time, rebuilding wicks and mixing juice, etc. They are smokers themselves, so I think if they see more of what goes into this, they might even switch themselves. Though most of them don't seem to like the work behind it, I just don't see it as work.

Things I love about eJuice me up is being able to make a full VG or PG and the option complexity of the program itself, am I looking at getting that same kind of flexibility from the android app?

If anyone has any experience with the app I would love to hear your thoughts.

Don't have a smartphone, so I'm not much help here. However. the best way to educate someone is to learn the mathmatics behind mixing. I know you say you're not much of a spreadsheet guy, but if you look at the formulas behind the scenes, it will educate you enormously. Ejuice me up is a great calculator, but these tools make it so easy to DIY that the actual theory is hidden from the user.

I have learned the methodology and can calculate on paper what is needed to make a juice, however, I do use a calculator program, which I created myself, to do most of my mixing.

It's just that when I open spreadsheets they are extremely overwhelming most of the time, instead of just being a formula they are a compendium of suppliers etc. If you could point me to one that is just a formula in action that would be awesome.

On that note, I actually just went ahead and purchased, eLiquid Recipe Manager pro, and have decided that they are pretty much similar to each other. With the added abilities to actually create your own set ups and add them automatically to a list. So, setting up a flavor, you can put in your name, base, and add notes to that and then just add that to a recipe, instead of doing all of that manually at the time of creating a recipe. You can do that with, nics, flavors, and fillers. It's actually quite awesome. Not to down on eJuice me up, I love it as well, Recipe Manager just has the added benefit of going mobile.

For anyone curious about it.

Somewhere out there
If you want to get your friends and family interested in DIY, I think it would be less intimidating to show them Darkhoods Simple method. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/396145-super-easy-diy-method.html .

Don't get me wrong, I like e-juice me up - I just started using it - but I think most people's eyes would just glaze over if they saw that and weren't already interested in DIY mixing.

Glad to hear that eLiquid Recipe Manager is working out for you. I will take a look at it soon.

Nice, I have seen that post at some point. Didn't even think about using that. It's not so much that I'm trying to get them into it, as they don't even vape (though I wish they would over analogs) it's that some (not all) of them do kind of have the "tinkerer's mind" like I do, I think DIY and rebuilding wicks would put them in that mood to switch much sooner, sneaky sneaky.

But, yes, Recipe Manager is nice, and as far as I could tell the Lite version is pretty similar, except for a few things held back of course to get people to buy the pro version, so if you were going to look into it, get the lite version to try things out, you can even back stuff up and load it into pro at the time of transition if you do.

I'm assuming that you are using the spreadsheet by Scubabatdan... if you go to the 'PG/VG Calculator tab, any of the cells that get filled in when you enter data will contain a formula as to which cells are used and how they are mathematically calculated to provide the data needed for mixing. Just click on one and read the formula in the formula line above the sheet.

I know you mentioned something about android platform...But, if you do have access to an ipad or ipod check out the eJuice app. It's great! I use it all the time...super straightforward!

I'll check it out, unfortunately I do not own one myself, but know people who do, so I'll give it a look, for sure!

I've gotten a chance to look through it more, which makes a bit more sense now, I chalk it up to being terrible with spreadsheets still but it's at least flowing a bit easier in my mind now, thanks.

I like plain old math - I use the nic level and PG:VG ratio I am looking for as an endpoint and work backward depending on what flavors I want to blend, so no problem using bought juices of different nic concentrations and PG:VG ratios in addition to my own DIY stuff.

Sorry not sure if that addresses what you are trying to show your friends though ...

This is what I did, I made my own spreadsheet to do the calculations with. I just did not like anything that was out there, and I have some problems with their math. Plus I didn't think any one spreadsheet or software had what I was looking for. There was one thing I saw from someone else, I believe it was Scubabatdan, and that was the receipe tab. I just used what was there and expanded on it.

DIY is nothing to be tinkering with. Nicotine is a very dangerous chemical that you shouldn't be "tinkering" with.

You need to make a mobile app, sir! Could totally throw a 2 dollar fee on that and people would buy it, or be a nice guy and do it for free again.

I get what you're saying. Though, it's not impossible, let alone hard to understand what you're doing, most adults could play around with a program or spreadsheet for an hour or so and understand what is going on. People "tinker" with it even with experience long after making your first liquid ever, that's what DIY is, "tinkering". Yes, you don't go into this, without reading stuff, and I would never throw friends and family into the mix without saying, "don't throw in super strength nic for your first go". If people didn't "tinker" though, then none of this stuff today would even be here, mods, nic juice, etc. All would not be available for us to even make on our own. So, I think you misunderstood what I was saying by using "tinkering", I've made several different strengths and flavors already and haven't died yet! (no offense)
