Hi guys,

Since I found this forum, I already learning a lot of all procedures involved in vaping, but some doubts still continue.
Well.... i don't know for where i begin... I'm from Brazil and bought an electronic cigarette on Deal Extreme.
This model:[ I CANT POST URLS YET!] When it arrives, i liked very much of this, and bought another model of e-cig from DealExtreme:

For me, this model that's similar to EVOlution Intelicig works great! The atomizers is OK, chargers OK, and batts OK. One Batt, had problem in the electronic circuit that smells burn and the battery don't work anymore. I contact DealExtreme and they give me a discount of $15, so i give plus $4 and bought another pair of e-cigs.

Thanks for reading until now, so i will start to tell you my doubts...

I really love to vape, but my problem is purchase the refills. The price isn't a problem, because the price of DX is very good, but the shippiment delay is 15 to 30 days.
I had been reading on forum that the better is to buy e-liquids ready to use, but i don't found a supplier that have free shipping to Brazil. The shipping rate from UK or USA is around 20 bucks. With $20 I can buy 100 refills on DX. So... to buy for a supplier without free shipping don't work to me.

So, I will try to make my own liquid. I had been reading recipies, a lot of PG and VG, nicotine extraction methods, etc.
For now, I wish some nicotine but doesn't a problem.
I bought 100ml of VG, 30ml of PG (very hard to find here, on my city)

First Problem/Doubt: the pure VG dripped in atty makes a lot of vape, but irritate/tingle my throat. Is normal??? The PG don't do this.

My second doubt is: I can't find the essencies that you tell on forum. The essencies are food type, right? But, is the same used to make cakes, candys, etc???

I bought a vanilla essencie for cakes, but doesn't work to me.
Yestarday, i bought essencie for make chocolate, and was great!!!
I mixed 2ml PG, 2ml VG and 1ml for menthol taste and stay perfect!
A lot of vape, with a good kick and a lot of taste of menthol. The same sensation of smoke a menthol cigarette solded for here.

But, i wanna a tabaco taste too.
After a lot of reading on forum, i found a way of extration that work very well to me.
Sorry, but i don't remember the user that teach this, Sorry.
The method is teached with Snus, but i try with a good Cuban Cigar. , and teached with PG but i have a little quantity, I try with 50%VG 50% destilated water.

I just put a piece of Cuban on VG+water and let on it 10hours. Wow... Very good vape and a good taste and 2 problems resolved!!!

Now, i guess that i can stop to smoke analogs.... tomorrow will be the first day! I hope i can do this...

I still wanna know more about the essencies that i can use and why when i vape VG my throat hurts...

Yes, the flavorings many of us use in DIY liquids are the same kinds used in candies and cakes. We usually look for ones that are water soluble, and not oil-based, to avoid possibly cloging/killing your atomizers. Or at the least, as some natural flavor essences are true oils, if you decide to try them you should only use very small amounts mixed in with your PG/VG/nicotine base (this type of natural oil-based essence is usually very stong anyway, so tiny amounts could be all you need).

Not sure why the glycerin (VG) would irritate your throat. Sounds like you should stick with mixing it with the PG, instead of using it alone, as that sounds like its working better for you. It's usually too thick to be used successfully all by itself, anyway.

So, today morning my attomizer begins to fail. He don't make more vapor, sometimes makes little steam, but wasn't normal.
I hear the noise of burning liquid, the atty heats, but don't do smoke. only sometimes a little smoke.
A Month of use this attomizer, i never clean it.
The resistance is very dirt, very dark.

Now, coincide with i just started to make my own liquids, and now i'm changing sometimes (once a day) the taste of liquid. (actually menthol and tobacco).

More 2 Questions:

My atty is dead??? What you recommend? Clean It?

and

Do you think that my home made liquid burn my atty????

and

What the better way to clean the attomizer?

Atomizers are unpredictable. I've had some that lasted longer than a month, others only a couple of days, and many in between. So I never count on more than a couple of weeks of good perfomance, just to keep my frustration level down.

A completely dead atomizer won't heat up at all, so it's probably not dead yet, but could be on its way out.

It could be clogged up and a cleaning is worth a try. A first step is simply blowing it out, from the battery connection end, to see if you can unclog it, and then reprime it with some liquid.

If that doesn't improve things, there are many other cleaning methods people try - none universally successful though. Some boil in water, some soak in lemon juice, or coca cola, or hydrogen peroxide, or coffee maker cleaner, or many other things, for longish periods of time.

One word of warning though: I've seen many people think their atomizer is totally dead after boiling or soaking in something to clean it. Many times it's not dead, but it does often take quite a long time and many, many puffs to bring an atomizer back to life after being cleaned and dried out. Once its dry, you should also put several drops of your vapeing liquid directly in the atomizer, and give it time to soak up the liquid before you even try puffing.

Have you checked out what would be the shipping cost from some other places with good parts and equipment prices in China? Have you looked at ruyandirect.com, for example? You can buy atomizers in bulk from them at pretty great prices, and their prices for ecigs overall are good as well.

Thank you for your attention and time losted with me. Sorry for have to suffer with my bad english...

First impression when you said the time of life of atty i don't like so much... but now, thinking better, i already am accepting this fact. The first atty lasted longer almost a month, so, it's all right! I wanna see how much will longer the second.

Well, i'm sure that my atty doesn't die, because he still works, but very, very bad.
It's very clogged up. I already had been read all parts of forum, and i saw a simple method of cleaning that works for almost everybody in the thread.
Only heat the atty with a DC font with 4,5V (in the topic the user used 9V).
I heat it with until 6V/1A, and the clean doesn't was enough. I will search another methods, because the atty doesn't work anymore, so i don't have nothing to lose. Now, i just ordered more 4 kits from China... ...20day limit to be welcome on my hand!!!

I will be honest. The e-cigs of DealExtreme don't have quality pattern, but those that work, are very good! (Can u understand this phrase??? Oh... my bad english.... )

(I am writing in English in respect to other posters).

I'm from Brasília, and I had trouble importing e-juice because ANVISA retained my package. Their report claimed that the product had no expiry date printed on the bottles.

A friend from a Brazilian forum about e-cigs (MP me, in portuguese lol for the link) recommended this Brazilian supplier:

I understand what you mean about the prices for a whole kit at dealextreme.

For me, ruyandirect is great because I only really need to buy atomizers, in bulk and hopefully cheap, but still decent quality. That's because I use the Screwdriver, an expensive ecig to start out with, but really more economical in the long run because it uses 1 CR3 3.7V battery (about $7 for 4 of them at dealextreme) instead of the much more expensive but short-lived tiny ecig battery.

I can understand the difficulty in getting ecig supplies in Brazil - I have friends in Venezuela I would really like to help get started, but it's even more difficult for people there, especially with the problem of having to buy in dollars.

Hi, and welcome to the forum,
I've only been vaping a short time, but I also tried to save some money by buying the high nicotine content juice (36 mg.), and mixing it with VG. I did this for one afternoon, and the next morning I woke up with laryngitis - my voice was squeaky and hoarse, and I could hardly talk.

I'm not 100% positive if that was because of the glycerine, or if it was because of the flavored oils that I added (bought at lorannoils.com); but it took almost a week for my throat to clear up. In the meantime, I used a very low mg., pure juice (not mixed with anything else) in my carts, and then started back slowly to work up to the nicotine level that my body craved. My throat is fine now, and I'm going to get some PG, and try mixing some 36mg. juice with that, instead of the VG. I'll let you know how that goes with my throat.

There are threads here on where to buy Propylene Glycol. The thread where I found it here in the U.S. was at TractorSupply.com. It's found on the internet at chemical suppliers, and also at farm supply stores, since it's used as a dairy cattle medicine to treat several different veterinary conditions. They sell it in gallon containers for $18.00 - $25.00 U.S.

Well my friends... so many thinks to tell you and don't know where to begin...
I'm very, very Happy today!
Yesterday, i was angry with a problem that i will describe in final of message and because my work (so much work) i don't have enough time to write here.

First off.... my atty is alive again!
I try to clean it with a burn dry method, but without success. After a lot of reading on this forum, my head twisted with so many information. I don't knew what to do, so... i do what i had in my house.
The process was it:
- Heat dry my atty (with 6v/1000mA or 1A)
- Washed on boil water, and let it rest on water until it cold.
- Let my atty rest on lemon-vinegar around 12hours (this vinegar comes with a concentrated juice of lemon/4% acidity)
- Washed again on boil water
- Dry it very well
- Heat dry again

Today morning, finished to dry (all night drying) and (without hope) i put a filled cart with my DIY menthol 0nic on it and plugged on batt.
First puff, nothing.... Second puff, a little smoke and the third....
Wow..... tons of smoke and taste!
I can't believe until know.... It's working better than the new one that i was using.
I'm using now this cleaned atty and just put my new atty to clean too!
I don't know what at right cleaned the atty, but i know that i will continue with this procedure.

I just figure out what all of you said on forum... Now i know the importance of cleaning, drying, to know about VG/PG/etc, and other tips to can survive on these e-cig's world.
Now, i will search a lot of more on forum threads, the better time to make washes, dryings, etc...

Yesterday... i had a problem that i don't know what is....
My new atty disappointed me, or maybe is my DIY e-juice... i dont know..
I finish to refill a cart with menthol juice (that i had make 2 days ago), and on the first puff is ok, but second, third is tasted burn.... I wait 1 minute and the taste is ok, but the sequences puffs burned taste.... I don't know if is my atty... or my juice that stay in a plastic bottle and evaporeted.
I change to a cart of tobacco low closed (new) and the same thing.... I dry the atty, and dripp it. Same thing.... I stay angry and don't play more with e-cig. I let the atty drying all night long, and today morning, put a new cart on atty and works ok.... I stay without understand....
After my old atty come backs life, i put these atty to make a clean cycle that i describe above.
What you guys thinking about this????? Strange hun?
