Except for the switch being a weak link and the atomizer, it's a mech, frankly probably safer than some commercially available. Which would mean safe if you know what you're doing with coils, battery etc. and are always cautious. As to the switch, the idea behind most mech switches is they can be maintained, disassembled and/or cleaned, such as a homemade switch. High current, low voltage.

Epoxy has low melting point and polyester probably not much better, I wouldn't want ejuice touching any kind of cured or dried glue and you can probably taste it. Something like a Delrin bottle cap, tested in the oven to 400 degrees F, would make a better juice catch cup and posts insulator. Overall, almost any cheap atomizer would be better than what you can make and cheaper than the tools and materials to make a better one.

Good luck with the build RISK.
I'm astounded at this thread. I feel bad the treatment you have endured here... this USED to be a wonderful place to learn, not the mean spirited back biting, name calling place that it had evolved to. I for one am done. I'm removing my book mark to this site. I cant believe people being so small to call you a liar because you don't understand... they need banned from the site! thank you Mike 685, this what this site USED to be, explain and guide a newbe, not belittling him. I have built hundreds of mods over the years, regulated and non regulated, but frankly I wouldn't consider putting putting one up anymore to give these wanna be's a place to spot off.

there is a major difference between learning... and outright lying, constant demands for us to say "yeah the mod you built from questionable, laying around scrap parts, is safe", especially when it's clear the person doing the building doesn't understand the very basics of safety or what they are doing. what we have done is suggested learning and made it pretty clear we were worried about his safety... guess it was wrong to worry about it eh?

I'm assuming some of your generalization of the tone of responses in this thread are inclusive of my contributions. Let me just say OP was not trying to learn anything by throwing together scrap parts haphazardly and then asking is this OK. ECF has been a plethora of information for new mod builders. I am one. Built my first mod almost 6 years ago. I read a lot and asked a few questions prior to trying to assemble anything, though. I attempted to learn. OP just came in with ready rigged, insufficient hardware asking if it was safe. I was frustrated because OP probably used it prior to learning that it wasn't built safely. It is like somebody jumping out of an airplane without a parachute and asking a skydiving instructor if it was safe. Big derp that potentially jeopardizes the public image of vapers in general. Yeah if I'm passionate about people vaping outside of safety and how it affects us all, I may get magnanimous in my reply to a terrible situation.

I'm happy OP learned before it was too late.

@Dothan I hope you're not still mad. ECF is still a great place. Sometimes we address ignorance without sugar coating it. Just imagine if the cuss words filter wasn't in effect. If you're offended, my apologies. Hopefully it will pass.

    Hello everyone and mods.
I am new here. I'm planning a DIY mod for my vape.
Doing my research for metal lathes. Can anyone help a beginner out?
I want to buy my own metal lathe. As I'm a beginner I'm having information overload with all the info I'm reading on other forums and reviews.
Can you please tell me which metal lathe is good to buy in this review?
    Thank you.

considering he made a video of himself making the mod and was vaping it at the end? oh man...

spend the 25 and get a premade squonker, they're cheaper and safer.
Just because a mod is pre made does not mean automatic safety. A couple years back, I saw a OWL bottom feeder that was stopped from going sonic because the swelling battery was pulled at the last second... That was a commercially built, unregulated, non fused bomb waiting to happen for under $25. it's design flaw was a firing rod that tended to stick, in fire mode... a statement that if a factory made it, it is perfectly safe, is just as bad... there are people that will make it if you will buy it.
I don't discount many safety issues with that build... he is learning, and has shelved his bomb. I just don't get the need to continue insulting the guy... if it bugs you so badly, stay out of the thread, if you cant help him, let people mentor and help him have at it. Your solution is like, ok you wrecked your bicycle on the first tryto ride, you must goget a tricycle, and never get on a two wheeler again.

    Hi and welcome,
What will you use to stay off of cigarettes for the next year while you research, buy, and begin to use the lathe/mill?
What is your budget and experience with metal working/fabrication?

    Cheers

Hello Everyone I have Built this mod is this safe to use

I like the way you took what you have and made it work, but being able to pull the battery quick would be a nice feature. Maybe a hinge door instead of the 4 screws holding the front cover on.

daddycute, get the 12x36. with lathes bigger is usually better if you're making tube mechs out of bar stock. gear head with change gears to make various threads by singlepointing. check out the album on my profile page to see industrial grade mechs made on a 12x36 LION. when you're done with mechs you can turn your brake discs, fix the vacuum cleaner, make some gun parts, the list is endless. the satisfaction of making your own anything is priceless. (or a chinese mech can be had for ten bucks). g4003
