Hey all, in my new DIY forays I have a problem.
I recieved some 100mg/ml VG nic juice from someone, and got unflavored PG to cut it with. I was going to mix 40 mls 0mg PG with the 10 mls VG I got, to make 50 mls of 20mg ....
Had everything set, and drew off 5mls of the 100mg nic, and put it in my 40mls PG ... then went back to the nic bottle and noted some small black dots in the liquid (maybe 8 teeney dots of something). I didn't see them prior as the 10ml bottle had a label all over it ....
I looked in my PG, and no black dots, but I threw the rest of the nic juice away. Ok, now I have 45mls of about 11mg juice and wonder what I should do ...
Throw it all away? I have some 36mg unflavored, and could mix a bit of that in to get 20mg, but don't know if this stuff is good now.
Any advice is appreciated .... I have a feeling I should dump it all. Man, what a waste ....

I wasn't able to see the nic juice, didn't look at it up from the bottom. The label covered all around the 10ml bottle .... I didn't notice them till I looked down into the bottle from the top getting the 2nd 5mls ..... I don't know where they came from.
The 100mg/ml nic juice was sort of making me nervous, so I was being really careful handling stuff and maybe didn't look at everything as well as I should have ....
Should I assume something contaminated it? Syringe, whatever? (I cleaned syringe with alcohol and rinsed 1st, but who knows)

Ok, thanks! I hate to throw it away, and can mix it with my 36mg, add some flavors, and bingo!

Thanks again - now I wish I hadn't freaked out and thrown the other 5mls out.

LOL! I'm not trying to cause a squabble here, but you make a post all alarmed about the condition of your nic...you then get a few posts with questions, along with some speculation about the possibilities of what the 'black dots' are, and ONE person (a fairly noob himself in the world of diy and ecigs) says 'I wouldn't worry about it' and you take it as gospel??
If it were ME, I'd
a. go with my gut
b. wait until a veteran, or someone with a bit more experience replies

Just my :2c:

I would also wonder how many 'black dots' are too small to see with the naked eye that you'd be inhaling...just a thought.

I would absolutely contact the vendor if you saw any black floaters in the nic base. Nic base is not supposed to have black particles in it.

If you are unsure, could have contaminated it yourself, that is a different matter, but if you are new, working with new syringes, pipettes, whatever, they should not have random dirt in them.

The nic vendor probably didn't sterilize the bottles first as I doubt many do, so I wouldn't use it. There's no telling what the particles are, they could be metal particles and I sure wouldn't want to vape them. Like someone else mentioned, what about particles you can't see? 10mLs is only a few bucks and not worth the risk IMO.

I hope everyone here is sterilizing their bottles before mixing.

If I knew it was an inert substance, I wouldn't worry 'bout it; my carto filler material would 'catch' it. BUT, on the other hand, I would never put up with an unknown substance in my joose!
