Hi. First of all, wow, great juice. I got my initial order very quickly and have just placed a followup and got tracking the next day, so kudos also for great customer service. Now to the point:
I luv the premixed flavors, but the DIY section intrigues me due to the possible cost savings. But (there's always a "but")...
I'm a research chef and develop food products for national retail and restaurant brands. I work with a lot of food flavor houses and complex formulations, so I am well aware that the end result is often much more than just "the sum of the parts". Sometimes an ingredient declaration is essentially a roadmap (especially if there are standards of identity that define minumum/maximum amounts of some ingredients, or known relationships between components, such lecithin being based on how much fat you are trying to control). But on some of my formulas, even if I gave you supplier item numbers AND percentages, without my process you'd end up with something different than the product you were trying to replicate. I also recognize that this is a competitive industry (e-juice, i mean) and each vendor has their own take on flavors, and their trade secrets.
That said, I really like the premixed Desert Ship and RY4 I tried and re-ordered. I'd love to take advantage of the savings from buying straight nic juice and flavors and blending myself, but I suspect that what I'd end up with would not be the same as what you sell as a finished product. Heck, I'm sure at best I'd only have a 50/50 chance with the RY4 since you carry two different brands (Flavour Art and Flavor Apprentice). At least the Desert Ship is potentially a less murky path, since Flavour Art is your only choice.
If you only sold ready to use juice, I wouldn't presume to ask, but since you also sell the same flavors in your DIY section, I feel this is a fair question.
So what I'm wondering is, will I even come close with those flavors and your nic juice? I'm not asking for your secret recipe (unless you're offering
) but I just kind of want some direction as to whether my result will be "like" your preblends, or not even similar? Do you use these flavors and then add your "secret touch" or are the RY4 and Desert Ship flavors unrelated other than by name to the preblended juices you sell?
Any guidance, or anecdotal observations from other consumers who've been down this path, will be greatly appeciated.
