can someone recommend a good place to buy some basic DIY supplies? I can figure out the favors but I should probably get some decent mixing stuff, syringes, measuring cups etc. I don't want to spend a fortune but want to be able to do it right.

^ you beat me to it Steve. Turrican, feel free to ask more questions on best places.
+1 for wizard labs. They are pretty quick to deliver as well. I am happy with them so far and have spent quite a bit there.
Most places that sell flavors will have the items you need. Some empty bottles, (I save ones that had premade juice) and a few syringes or pipettes is really all you need to get started. Wizard labs usually will throw in a pipette with you liquid order.(or at least thats what I got).

I like Wizard Labs, too. I ordered nic, pg, syringes and some flavors from there, then a bunch more flavors from ECX. I probably had my stuff for a week before I mixed anything and even then, all I did was split up the nic, lol.
I spent a LOT of time reading, asking questions, MORE reading and finally looking at recipes that sounded good. When I did go to mix, I felt more comfortable than I expected to, followed a few recipes and they turned out pretty good!

MFS has some great pricing on pre-mixed base. Can't really go wrong with them, and for the past year, everything I've ordered from them has arrived within 3 to 5 days. That's great turnaround.
Don't forget to buy a pocket scale. Downloading JuiceCalculator is free. Make sure all your ingredients have dropper tops and you're good to go.
