I am new to vaping (3 months) but I am now completely off analogs and almost all the way off nicotine in my juices. I have been experimenting at home with different things and I think I have found a great mix. Now I was not a menthol smoker when I smoked analog cigs but I found that the only thing that gave any me any throat hit in my home recipes was mint. Yes believe it or not, Creme de Menthe candy oil from your local craft store or Lorann online mixed sparingly with straight up store bought USP Grade VG gave me what I was looking for in a zero nic vape. I got clouds of vapor, a pretty decent throat hit and a nice minty aftertaste. It felt like I was smoking a Menthol Light cigarette. Again, not my favorite style of smoke back in the day but if you're looking for a zero nicotine vape with a good throat hit, it's worth a try. Hope this helps someone else out there...!!!

Welcome to the forum. Glad to see you made the switch and got off nic also and in such a short time. Nice going. One thing that bothers me though is the Creme de Menthe candy oil. All that oil may not be so good for your lungs. There are lots of warning on the forum about vaping flavors with oil in them. And of lesser importance, the oil will really gunk up your attys/cartos.

I can't provide you with a link because I've just read about it in several posts and moved on. There is a member on the forum that is a chemist but unfortunately I don't remember his username. Maybe somebody else will come along that does. Then you could PM him with your concerns. There is also a list of flavorings from many different vendors that lists which flavors have oil in them so those who are concerned about vaping oil can avoid them. Again, I don't know where that list is but I might have bookmarked it. If I did, I will post it for you. Sorry I can't be more helpful. You might try searching for this subject in the "Search ECF with Google" search box in the upper right hand corner of each page.

Here's a list of LorAnn's flavoring that shows which flavors have oil in them. I feel it's safe to assume that if somebody goes to this much trouble to compile a list of one vendors flavors to inform people about which flavors contain oil there must be some concern about vaping oil. Hope this helps. I know there is another list out there somewhere but this is the only one I have bookmarked.

I love your enthusiasm :) I'm also concerned about the "oil" in your description of your flavor. It's dangerous to vape oils. A chemist explains it well in the DIY forum. I don't understand it all except there is the OK oil like what you smell/inhale when french-fries are cooking but flavor oils are the bad kind that shouldn't be inhaled and can do damage. I'll rummage for the data.

Sorry to puke this ginormous pile of data on you. I don't want to take anything out of context. After reading I chose not to vape any flavors that aren't water soluble. Some oils are bad for lung tissue. Great info: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/74109-guide-diy-flavoring.html

For throat hit you might try Box Elder for nicotine. It has a strong peppery TH at 16 - 24mg. I moved to another nic supplier because it was a little too much TH for delicate juices, sweets and fruits for my taste. Many vapers love the big peppery hit. You can also buy TH enhaners for your juice. I've read about but not used them. Hope you find your happy spot quickly. Glad you're here.

Thank you very much for your advice washvap!!! I should have been more specific. I did spend many hours researching the liquids that had been approved for vaping. And I found that the Creme de Menthe produced by LorAnn had generally been accepted by most as safe because it actually contained no "oil". But that it was soluble in water and contained PG and some other harmless flavorings. What I should have said was that you can find Lorann at your local store or you can purchase it online if you cannot find it locally. You're right tho, we have to be very careful and it's great to know that those who have experience are looking out for those of us who are just getting started. This is a link I found here on the ECF that shows which flavors are safe for vaping in case anyone else reads this and is wondering. Isn't it funny tho, a lot of people (including myself) never questioned what the manufacturers were puttin in our cigarettes and I smoked em' for nearly 25 years. I'd like to think I'm much smarter now :) Thanks again for your help !!!

My understanding of many of Lorann's candy oils are that some of them are not really "oils" at all. The mixtures at LorAnn that indicate they are soluble in water are generally accepted as being safe to vape; including Creme de Menthe. I could be wrong on this (as I am fairly new) but this is what I understand to be true at this point. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong. I am looking for the best advice out there. Thanks so much everyone !!!
