So I recently bought a ton of flavors/vg/pg/nicotine to make my own eliquid. Unfortunately I can't seem to get any flavors right. I have been needing to use 30% flavoring to get any sort of decent flavor. But my 50/50 blends end up with no flavor at all even with 30% flavoring in there. Is it possible that I over used flavor ?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to ECF!! :toast:

Flavoring at 30% is almost certain to be over-flavored. You didn't mention what brand flavorings you are using, this will make a huge difference, along with the actual flavors you used, also a big factor.

An espresso flavor from Flavor Art, The Flavor Apprentice, and Capellas will all take different percentages, and all taste different. I've used all three and they all were best a under 10%

30% is way overdoing it! As others have stated, 5% to 10.. maybe even 20%, depending on the maker and pg/vg ratio should cover you. Let us know where you got your flavors, we might be able to help.

Some flavors out there don't even need that much. I use super concentrates that only require 2%, and I even have to use less than that to keep from over flavoring..

Until you know how strong your flavors will be, it is always best to start small and work your way up to just the right amount. Some flavors are very strong and only need 1-2% while other flavors can go up to 15% to get that sweet spot.

Every time I use a new flavor, I make up a small 0nic 3ml bottle to test it, see how the flavor is, then add little by little as needed, then make a note in my DIY notebook on the flavor, and how much I used.

DoMortas and SupplyDaddy pretty much said it all.
When you can, check out Hoosiers blogs. A lot of good DIY info :

Welcome to the family

This ^^^.

When you mix in too much flavoring the flavor actually goes down or changes completely. I've experienced this with a couple of flavorings at only a few percent.

Hang in there, research things and take it slow at the beginning. DIY is great and you'll be making good juice in short order :)

Slots beat me to it...good advice there. It really differs by flavor, but I have found 10% with most is a good place to start. I mix all new flavors as a single flavor, 8ml batch at 10% just to try them and see how they do so I know how they taste, how strong they are, if they need to steep and for how long. Keep notes on this. Taste everything right after you make it so you have a baseline to judge if steeping helps and how it does.

The DIY section has plenty of info for flavor % for different flavor producers to use as a starting point. Again, to echo others, be patient and do the research. It will come together nicely. Good luck, and welcome!

Drops tend to be very inexact measurements, about 30 drops per mL is often sited, but it will depend on the viscosity of what you measure and the size of the drops. A 1 mL syringe makes measurement much easier and more accurate.

The flavor apprentice (TFA or TPA) tend to be strong in many of their flavors. Mixing each as a separate flavor in a small 3-5 mL batch to test what percentage tastes best to you is recommended.

Once you get an idea of the strengths you like this thread might help....http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/e-liquid-recipes/343181-tpa-tfa-recipes-only.html

A 50/50 mix would work, (I vape that ratio all the time..:)) The difference in flavoring in PG or VG is slight, an even mix will get you "in the ballpark"

Taste each batch when you mix it, and a few days later, and a couple weeks later. Some flavors need to steep, some are great fresh, some are even better fresh. Keep notes of the percentages and the flavor profiles at each stage.

Sounds complicated but after a while you'll develop a feel for the different flavors and how long they might need to steep...:)

so i made all 10 flavors i have in a 50/50 with 10% flavoring and im barely getting any taste at all from any of them. These are the flavors i have .... pineapple, ripe strawberry, lemonade, juicy peach, mango, rasberry, watermelon, grape, cotton candy, cinnamon danish, and mt dew. I feel like im fighting a loosing battle and its driving me nuts. I know some of them may need to steep, but i feel like right away i should be able to taste at least something. I feel like im just smoking PG ..... im at a loss.
