Not a bad setup - if you want the little toolbox anyway...
You CAN put together your own and probably get more stuff you'll use regularly...
Places like RTSVapes and MyFreedomSmokes as well as DIYFlavorshack can be "all in one" shops for nic, flavors, and some mixing utensils.
I bought more than needed - I use a graduated beaker for big pours and syringes for everything else, so the pipettes were a waste...and I had to get more and bigger bottles, too (once I found flavors I love).

But either way - go for it!
Mixing your own is fun and can save a TON of $$.

Best to read Danny's blog about this and rethink the kit. => http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/dannyv45/5096-what-you-need-know-far-supplies-safety-first-time-juicer.html

Kits seem like a good idea for a novice, but there is a lot of stuff in there you really don't need, may not like, and will want to change out for something you prefer. I thought I would need a big "kit 'o stuff" when I started - I'm glad I didn't. Keep in mind this is someone else's idea of what everyone needs. Some of it definitely, some of it maybe, some of it - not really. The more I read the less the kit seemed like a wise purchase.

I don't need the tool box, I actually have some old tool and tackle boxes I could use. I really only need the syringes, beakers, pg, vg, nic and flavor. I've been lowering my nic hopefully to soon be happy at 0‰ so I don't think I need a lot of nic. I just need the engredianc and meshering tools. Already have a good amount of juice bottles saved up

I was in same boat as you about 4 months ago.
Almost bought the kit, but turns out all i needed was 2 1ml syringes, 2 3ml syringes and bought 3 pairs of gloves, couple extra empy 30 ml bottles all for about $15 bucks.
Then i went shopping for tobacco's and flavorings.

I would buy 16oz. bottles pg/vg at amazon.com............. $3.99 per bottle (will last you months)
Amazon.com: Nature's Oil 100% Pure Propylene Glycol (USP Grade) 16 oz: Health & Personal Care
and
http://www.amazon.com/Natures-Oil-G...sim_hpc_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=0XYVHM8FSENS5T5TPNKB

Then just buy your nicotine - (Vapor tek)...the best out there for about $20 for 100mg nic.
perhaps you'll want 60mg....that is like $12.00 bucks.

You can bypass all the syringes with cheap digital scale.

No.1 - Don't be nervous, it's daunting pre-diy'ing all the names of the additives/flavorings, the percentages etc..etc...but it's so easy after that.
Just stick with the proper recipe amounts, use the ejuicemeup calc. and you'll never look back man.

Note: All this is the result of my own "thought experiments." I've not had any actual experience with DIY until the rest of my stuff gets here, in a few more days.

Looking into getting my diy juice on. Looking at this starter kit. Are there better or should I go for it?
The "PREMIUM" DIY Kit - This Kit Contains 30ml of 60mg of UnFlavored Mixing E-Liquid In This Kit

One thing to note about that $60 "Premium" kit, is that the $36 "Silver" kit is the exact same kit, minus the $6 bottle of nicotine which can be had from the very same website. Don't buy the $60 kit. If anything, buy the $36 kit and get the nic for 6 bucks; you'll end up with the exact same thing and save yourself $18 in the process.

Now, on to the kit itself. There's so much in there you don't need. You already said you don't need the box. Glass vials? A plastic flip-top bottle? A plastic tweezers and a metal tweezers? Why would you need both? It sounds to me like someone is just trying to dump their excess inventory. Do you need sweeteners? Many people don't. How about menthol crystals? Cartridge filler?

I looked at all the starter kits too, but in the end I just settled on some assorted syringes w/ 14g needles, and a few pairs of gloves. Really, what else do you need? You said you've got a box you can use to store it all in, you've got spare empty bottles leftover from retail juices, and you can just mix your liquid directly in the bottles. You really don't need cups or beakers or vials or cylinders or pipettes...those are all just filler to make the box look not so empty when you get it and wonder where your $36 (or $60) went. Later on you may decide you want some of these things, and you can pick them up then, but when first starting out it's probably best to stick with the basics. Get yourself some nitrile gloves, a couple each of 1, 3, and 10ml syringes with 14/18g blunt-tip needles (I just got 14g 'cause all my stuff is in VG or a 50/50 mix, but if you'll be working with straight PG you'll probably want some 18g ones, also), PG/VG, nic, and a couple flavorings, and you should be all set to mix up a few batches in your leftover bottles.

I started DIYing with that kit. Now 1000's of experiments and juices later, I still haven't used half of what came with it; mostly dollar store stuff to make the kit seem sweeter, even the toolbox is probably a 99 cent item. Even the free flavors that came with it required such high doses that I ran out that same day.
I pretty much steer clear of DIY Flavorshack now. There is so much better stuff in the market these days.

This kit seems to be filled with unnessessery things that are cheap quality. I don't like the fact that this entire kit is subject to changes and substitutions as this gives a huge "unknown limitation" to the kit and gives you no control over the selection process. Part of the DYI learning experience is knowing how to choose what supplies you will need and how to select what will work for you and make you aware of what won't. A kit is an expensive way to learn this. As was mentioned earlier read my blog on supplies for the new DYI'r.
