Note: All this is the result of my own "thought experiments." I've not had any actual experience with DIY until the rest of my stuff gets here, in a few more days.
Looking into getting my diy juice on. Looking at this starter kit. Are there better or should I go for it?
The "PREMIUM" DIY Kit - This Kit Contains 30ml of 60mg of UnFlavored Mixing E-Liquid In This Kit
One thing to note about that $60 "Premium" kit, is that the $36 "Silver" kit is the
exact same kit, minus the $6 bottle of nicotine which can be had
from the very same website. Don't buy the $60 kit. If anything, buy the $36 kit and get the nic for 6 bucks; you'll end up with the exact same thing and save yourself $18 in the process.
Now, on to the kit itself. There's
so much in there you don't need. You already said you don't need the box. Glass vials? A plastic flip-top bottle? A plastic tweezers
and a metal tweezers? Why would you need both? It sounds to me like someone is just trying to dump their excess inventory. Do you need sweeteners? Many people don't. How about menthol crystals? Cartridge filler?
I looked at all the starter kits too, but in the end I just settled on some assorted syringes w/ 14g needles, and a few pairs of gloves. Really, what else do you need? You said you've got a box you can use to store it all in, you've got spare empty bottles leftover from retail juices, and you can just mix your liquid directly in the bottles. You really don't need cups or beakers or vials or cylinders or pipettes...those are all just filler to make the box look not so empty when you get it and wonder where your $36 (or $60) went. Later on you may decide you want some of these things, and you can pick them up then, but when first starting out it's probably best to stick with the basics. Get yourself some nitrile gloves, a couple each of 1, 3, and 10ml syringes with 14/18g blunt-tip needles (I just got 14g 'cause all my stuff is in VG or a 50/50 mix, but if you'll be working with straight PG you'll probably want some 18g ones, also), PG/VG, nic, and a couple flavorings, and you should be all set to mix up a few batches in your leftover bottles.
