I just tried making my first homemade juice. I mixed a 3ml batch of RY4. According to the calculator, the proper mix for 18mg nic was 38drops PG, 10dropsVG, and for 20%flavour, I used 10 drops of RY4 flavour. I used a brand new Boge LR 2.0 ohm cartomizer. I inhaled...Nothing, Nada, Zilch!!! No hit, no flavour, no vapour. This is the second cartonizer I've used out of this box. The first is in the garbage, after my first try at RY4 from Honeyville. I was convinced there was something wrong with that juice...now I'm wondering if it could have been the carto..... Is it possible to get a box of bad cartomizers? What else could I be doing wrong????

Sounds like you not make connection with the carto. Have you tried it on another device ?

You can try turning the center pin of the carto gently counter-clockwise 1/8 turn, then up to 1/4 turn to see if it's just the connection causing issues. I have this occasionally with different atty's and carto's and doing that has worked for me.

I'm fairly certain it's not flooded...no gurgling...no noise at all. I did blow it out, and no juice came out, so I assume it's not flooded. When I first inhaled, I got a terrible taste(kind of like burning rubbing alcohol), for just a second and then nothing.

I tried turning the centre pin...still nothing. It seems to be firing, as it gets warm when I try inhaling.

It's odd that this is the second cartomizer from that box that I've tried, and had problems both times. After I tried the first with Honeyville RY4, the vape was absolutely horrible. I blamed the juice. I boiled the carto, refilled with another juice after drying it, and still the same horrible taste. I then threw it out thinking that the original juice did not flush out of it. I assume that LR cartomizers are suitable for Rive 510, and Hello 016 devices?

It sounds to me like you definitely have a dud carto there, Sharon. It's unusual to get such...I've only gotten two like that out of 150 or so. Duds don't crackle, they don't vape - they do nothing, lol. Everyone gets 'em sometimes, albeit rarely. My advice is to open a different box of cartos & try a new one.

While your recipe does seem to be a bit muddled (I'll PM you)...the juice is not the problem here. It's the carto. Especially if smokum's advice didn't work. Blame the carto...get a new one (preferably from a new box). Just a touch of bad luck hun.

Hope it works out!

I just tried the juice in one of my older cartos...it's a lovely vape, nice hit, nice vapour, and nice flavour. I think I'll be ordering more of the RY4. I tend to like the tobacco type tastes, over the sweet ones, as an all day vape.

It's weird because I've been using these other cartos for over a month. I make sure to keep them wet, and they're working fine. I ordered the Boge, as most people seem to like them, especially the low resistance. That's two "duds" out of the same box. There's three left and I'm hesitating to try them, in case I'm doing something wrong, although I can't imagine what that might be.

Rachael, how do you mean "muddled"? ...I followed the amounts on the calculator...

Hi Sharon,

When using a brand new carto, your best bet is to keep filling until you get a drop of juice out of the bottom - then you know for sure that it's full. If you happen to flood it, you can always blow it out a bit and it'll be fine. On the other hand, if you underfill it, you risk burning out the coil if the juice hasn't yet seeped down that far yet. Usually on first fill, I get anywhere from 26 to 32 drops in (depending on the viscosity of the juice), then on re-fills, about 18-22 drops.

I had an atty once that seemed dead, I'm cheap though so I didn't give up and just kept trying to dry burn it until it finally fired, maybe 20 or 30 tries did the trick :) However in your case since you did get a burnt taste out of it, it's probably fried, that's just the way it goes sometimes. It certainly won't be your recipe, as any juice will vape, even the worst juice :)

I dissected...the wick tube seemed fine, but there was a hole burned in the fibre. I just mixed a new batch of RY4...to give a total of 40 drops. I unwrapped a new carto. I used condom method, the taryn swing, and then loaded a bit through the top. All 40 drops were taken by this carto...and no flooding! YIKES! It works fine though. I don't think it would be possible to add this much juice to the cartos I'm used to filling! Problem solved. Do the Boge low resistant cartos take more juice than other cartos?
