Dizziness and Sweats

I have not used an analog in six days subsequent to making the switch to e cigs. On day four I broke out into an extreme sweat during a meeting and felt as if I was overheating. I then became extremely dizzy. The dizziness has, though subsided to a degree, persisted enough to interfere with my daily activities.

I have reviewed threads addressing this issue; however, no one seems to know whether this is attributed to solely to decreased carbon monoxide from quitting analogs or too much/little nicotine intake with the e cig. I have tried using the e cig more and less to address the dizziness, yet nothing is working. I am hoping this is just a temporary manifestation of decreased carbon monoxide and increased oxygen as a result of quitting analogs.

Has anyone else experienced this? I have a trial next week and, obviously, concentration is imperative. Right now, it often seems as if I have no concept of time as the day is a blur from the dizziness.

Any suggestions would be appreciated as I need to remedy this situation without going back to analogs. Thanks.

The closest thing I've experienced to what you describe happened to me a few days after I smoked my last analog. I had been feeling fine all day, then was suddenly hit with a headache and fatigue. I felt I hadn't slept in days. I went home and ended up sleeping for over 12 hours. I felt fine the next morning. It was the weirdest thing.

Occasionally I'll have some dizzy spells and get a mild headache, but that's probably caused by chain vaping and getting too much nicotine. I'll just put down the PV for a while and make sure that I'm getting plenty of fluids.

vaping is dehydrating, so make sure you're drinking plenty of water. If you're feeling dizzy, hitting the PV isn't going to make it better. In fact, it might make it worse. My questions to you would be how much are you vaping and what level of nicotine are you using?

The thing about recommending a nicotine level is that you really can't. It's different for everyone. Someone who smoked 3 packs a day might not be able to handle more than 12mg. Someone who smoked half a pack might need 24mg. Some people will say start high and use doublers if you find it's too high. Others are going to say start low and work your way up if you're still having cravings. I did the latter, and discovered that two different levels work for me. I use 18mg when I'm at home because I tend to chain vape. I use 24mg when I'm at work or out where I'm not free to vape whenever I want.

I am using 16 mg carts. I am attempting to treat my e cig as if it were an analog i.e. 7 or 8 puffs in one sitting 15 times per day. I am assuming, however, that this is delivering more nicotine than analogs would be. I'll try cutting it down to see if that helps but I didn't think that this was an abnormal amount of vaping.

Thanks for the advice. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Excellent advice. I just assumed that the nicotine content of analogs to e cigs would translate more smoothly. I have some 8 mg carts that I will begin using and see what happens.

Yep, I would reduce your nic level and see if that helps. Your symptoms sound like mine when I get a mild nic-OD going ... although I tend to get hiccups as my first symptom.

Were you vaping in your meeting?

No, I wasn't vaping in the meeting. In fact, I hadn't vaped for about two hours when that happened. This is why I am second guessing that I had too much nicotine.

That doesn't sound like nic OD then. Definitely up your liquids and check your blood pressure. I'm just guessing that it's the process of the toxins leaving your system, but if it continues I'd get a checkup.

Yes, I remember when I tried the gum. Hiccups like CRAZY. That is the general symptom for nicotine OD. Of course the gum is deemed "safe" by the FDA. What a joke.

I agree with StormFinch. It could be associated with your body's natural detoxification process and maybe a bit of withdrawal. Your body is going through a lot of changes, and for all intents and purposes, you've just quit smoking cold turkey. Be diligent with getting enough fluids, and make sure you eat. Like SF said, if you continue to have these symptoms, please go see a doctor.

What level nicotine would you recommend for a first timer who usually smokes about a pack a day?

Nicotine levels are different for everyone. One two pack a day smoker can do fine with 12mg another will need 24mg or even 36mg. It depends on the person.

Because of this, it is recommended to purchase several juices of various nic levels to find whats right for you. You could also get two of the same flavor one high nic one 0 nic and mix down to find your nic level. Youll need to be careful when testing the higher nic levels. Do NOT vape above 36mg. Be sure to read the understanding your symptoms post in the ECF Library so you know what to look for.

Hope that helps.

I'd have to agree with those who said it sounds like detox. Sweating is your body's way of ridding itself of toxins that build up in the body, as well as for cooling you off when you're overheated. It's not just carbon monoxide that your body is getting rid of, it's also the other 4,000 or so chemicals your body has gotten used to that you're getting out of your system and getting used to not having in your system on a constant basis.

Trying a lower nic mg might help with the other symptoms but remember, your body is going through a lot of changes right now and it's working hard to repair the damage that has been done by cigarettes. Give it time and if you're still not well in a few days, go to your doctor.

I have just started vaping today..so I cannot really comment on the nic levels etc...that may contribute to the dizziness and headache. But, it does also sound like it may have been a Panic/Anxiety attack. I get them alot..ugh. There are no warnings to them and they just happen out of the blue. Just a thought or another possible reason you are experiencing these symtoms. Hope all turns out well.

Having been a cigar smoker the past analog years and know the feeling of too much nic, I had found that if I over indulge that if I have a piece of candy that the stomach settles down much quicker than not having any thus avoiding the unpleasant throwing up.

Think the sugar does something to the urge. Also keep the water intake up as vaping does dry you out.

Any thoughts on the candy?

The ideas about detox would seem to have validity as I remain dizzy after waking up. Obviously, this translates to the fact that I haven't vaped for an extended period of time so it cannot be nic od. Heading to the Dr. today for a flu shot and will inquire further. I will update the thread if the Dr. has anything enlightening to shed on the issue. Thanks for all the advice!
