DNA 30 reverse battery protection.

so as you may know the dna 30 does not have reverse battery protection.

Pbusardo was saying that the reason for this is that the dna 30 has some sort of battery monitoring feature..

if i throw a diode on the negative side of the circuit from the board to the negative terminal on the battery will this effect the function?
will i lose that battery monitoring function but the mod will still work?

or will the mod work just fine? or not at all?
does anyone know?

Good question. The diode would have to be pretty big but it could serve as protection. I would guess it might slightly change the reading. It would probably depend on the diode used as well as the DNA 30. The only way to really know is for someone to try it.

i really figured some one would have done it by now.

i guess most people just use a circuit breaker.

The diode would drop voltage.
If it drops 0.7 Volts, the DNA would "think" that the battery is empty when it's at ~3.9V.
A diode will always drop voltage, even with little/no current, unlike a resistor where drop is proportional to current.

Check Mamu's posts in the battery mod section. Uses a mosfet for low voltage drop.
