Hi all,

May I ask here if any brothers have experience to use Ti wire with dna 40? As after checking different document, it said that dna 40 only calibrate with Ni wire, so it doesn't come with the choice of what TC wire like SX chip set, so just want to know if I can choose Ni only or if I can still use Ti.

I did try a Ti with my dna 40, found a strange thing is DNA 40 cannot accurately read my Ti wire resistance, mine is 3mm 26G with 8 wrap and should have 0.27 Ohm, but on DNA, it also read 0.35.

Please kindly help to share, thanks

Titanium can be used on the DNA40 with a temperature offset. Set the temp about 100 farenheit lower than you would normally, that should work.

Thank you, but may I know if you will have the same strange resistance reading for Titanium? Other mods with SX chip or ohm meter read 0.27ohm but DNA 40 will read 0.35, should I just leave that and then set the temperature per your suggestion?

Hi Ken
If it was still warm when you read it on the dna I believe it would read higher. Let it cool to room temp set it and lower your vaping temp like KenD said and go from there.

I did try to let it cool down before checking, but the taste has a big difference when comparing with SX350......

Thanks and I did read that, just think if there's any simpler way. After trying the DNA 40, I appreciate more on what SX chip can do..
The DNA40 is really old tech at this point. The DNA200, 75, and 250 are the more modern DNA variants. Honestly, I'd choose a something like an iStick Pico or Wismec rx200 over a DNA40 mod.

Should work just fine. Which mod is it and which Ti wire do you have??

I do understand, but this mods is a squonker mods, I have tried to find a good looking one with a better chip like DNA75 or SX 350J but fail, but I didn't aware that the DNA 40 was designed to work best with Ni wire on TC only. :-(

It was designed for ni200 tc only

I do think so, actually, I did test and Ti can still work without problem but only that I can never get back the flavor i got from my other SX devices, no matter what temperature I set. Too bad....

there is noi good reason why this should be true. I was a pretty early adopter of Ti and used it exclusively on dna40 boxes initially!

Looks being subjective, there's the Therion DNA 75 Squonker, seeing them in the ~$100 bracket... but if it were me I'd probably be looking for a DNA60/75/etc. board to replace the DNA 40 board with. That's if you like the mod you have now.

Oh really, so you are using Ti with your dna40 boxes?
So, everything just the same as using Ni wire?
you need to offset (reduce) the set temperature by around 100F but apart from that works great. I dont use Ti much any more but worked well when I did!

The workaround for Ti is to reduce the temp by around 100F as the DNA40 is/was designed to work with Ni200 wire only. Newer DNA's (60,75,133,167,200,250's) are designed to use many different wires.
