DNA20 charging issue

I have a DNA20 NES mod from Litt-Up and have recently run into a problem with charging. Apparently they are swamped there and haven't been able to respond to my messages so maybe some of the wonderful minds here at ECF can help.

The mod stopped taking charge so I cleaned the USB port and still no go. When I plug it in the LED will turn on red like it should but that only lasts for approximately 1 minute before the light shuts off. I tried leaving it plugged in for about an hour after that and it still won't turn on. If I unplug it after the light blacks out then it will not light up again when immediately plugged in again. If I let it sit for 15 minutes or so then plug it in again it will light up then turn off.

I love this mod and would hate to lose it. Does anybody know what could be wrong and how I could fix it?

I know nothing about DNA mods but how is the battery in the device maybe it is shot and won't take a charge. Can you try replacing it with another battery?

I was thinking that too. I just wanted to ask around before I open it up and risk messing it up totally.

Are you turning the mod off before beginning re-charge?

The battery is completely drained. At this point there is no "on".

Prior to this I was locking it before charging however.

I just got home from work and tried cleaning the charging port one more time. This time I also used a small safety pin to scrape around inside there. I didn't retrieve any junk but apparently I did something right. The LED charge indicator light has remained lit for a good 15 minutes so far. Hopefully this means it is charging. I will check in an hour or so to see if I can turn it on.

Went to check it and the light was out again. Wouldn't turn on. Suppose it's the battery? Something else?
