I received my dna30 clone the other day, works perfectly fine on single coil builds on my nimbus and tobh. However, every time I try to do a dual coil build i get the "check atomizer" error, even though it hits perfectly fine on my other mech mods. I then found out when I loosen the post screws on my atomizer it works on my dna30. Anyone else encountered this problem? I've heard of people having issues with the 510 connection being flush or recessed in their atomizer, but this doesn't seem to be the case on mine.

Yes it reads .6 ohms, on par with my other ohm reader. Like I said my dual coil builds work on my mech mods, but everytime I put it on dna30 clone i get the error
The reason I asked, was the clone should only fire to .3, which a mech would happily fire.
Is the dual build on the same atty that fired with a single? (it's what I am understanding from your post, but just checking)

yea it works with single coils on both my nimbus and tobh, but i rebuilt both with dual coils and both did not work, until i loosened the post screws on my attys. something seems to be causing a short in my dna30 when the screws are fully tightened
Build a .8 Ω let us know what happens, I'm thinking that is the limit of the clone

Sorry if these ideas are simplistic for you, but I don't know your level.
1 Check for "tails". Sometimes, when you tighten down, the end of the wire wrapped around a post will stick out and cause a short.
2) Look at the inside of your topper. Check for little burnt marks that could be a short to the wall of the dripper. If it's a small enough gap, the arcing won't stop a mech, but will trip a reg mog.
3) What gauge of wire? If it's thick, it can lap over the sleeves of the post when tighten, and short.

chelonian, i will try your ideas later when i get home (i'm at work). my friend is also coming with his clone so i can test my builds out on his as well to see if it works
oh and i've only tried it with 26 gauge micro coils, but i can try some thinner wire later on
I like 26n gauge as well, but I have had issues wrapping it both on my patriot and my Russian
looks like i have a defected clone....tried the builds that were supposedly shorting on mine on my friends dna clone and they work perfectly....hopefully i can return it and get a new one
