Oh boy, so much sounds wrong with that build I don't know where to start. Go here and read through this thread. Skipping to the end an going backwards may save you some time, as the first 3/4 is everyone figuring the Ni builds, it gets more dialed in towards the more recent posts.

A good coil to start out with is 28g 9wraps around a 6-32 machine screw. Keep the coil on the screw as you attach it (which you shouldn't be doing on the mod), then unscrew the screw from the coil. There is much more that goes into getting a properly functioning coil though, so read through that thread.

Edit: 8-32 works just as well, like woofer suggested, and with 8 wraps you will get roughly the same resistance as 9 wraps around a 6-32.

Great Thanks for the help I was hoping it was me didn't want to go through the hassle of warranties it's like a whole new world with this ni200
.. ok so used the 3 mm driver no machine screws until I get back to work on Monday did 9 wraps came out to .12 but still getting that temp protected prompt at 480F at only 6.5 watts starting to seem like a issue with the board coil was evenly spaced and plenty of airflow on the hobo to cool it made sure leads were secure not sure what else it could be after reading through the dna 40 build thread
