Hey everyone
I hate to even have to ask but I've searched for a long time and have not found anything. I just bought some samsung 25R batteries and have always used VTC4's or 5's. I have an Xtar charger and just want to make sure it's safe to throw the Samsung's on it. The only hesitation I have is the fact that the two batteries have a differnt chemistry, and I'm not sure if all chargers will work for diffferent batteries. Any help is much appreciated.

Also, on a side note, I'm wondering if batteries with differnt chemistires will react to chargers differently, i.e, does a samsung take longer or short time to charge than a sony?
Thanks

Both the Samsung 25R and the Sony VTC series are hybrid IMR/something else Li-ion. They charge and discharge the same. So do all the batteries in this chart.

There are other battery chemistries that need other chargers, but we don't generally use these for vaping. LiFePo4 are also Li-ion but are 3.3v nominal and only go up to 3.7v max as opposed to our 4.2v. Then there are the 1.3v lithium rechargeables, alkaline, NiCad, NimH, etc.

You can also get chargers that support more than one battery type automatically. The NiteCore Intellichargers are like that. These lack some features that are not compatible with that support.

As a general rule you NEVER charge batteries of different chemistry on the same charger at the same time EVER. That does not mean the same charger cannot be used.... Just that charging different types of batteries at the same time can be dangerous and can damage the batteries. (technically , its using same charging circuit, thats dangerous)

My charger will Charge my 3.7v and 1.5V batteries. I never even charge them at the same time, even though my charger says you can.
