do clearomizers just not wick enough to keep up with me?

Hi all,
So a while back I made the switch to rdas and have never looked back. But now I'm kinda looking back wondering why the clearos didn't work well for me.
When using clearos, it seems that if you up the voltage too much you'd get a burnt taste, and still not much vapor. Back then I figured high wattage must be the culprit, but now I have vaped at much higher power and no burnt taste as long as my wick is wet.
So, is it safe to conclude that they just weren't wicking well and I was basically just inhaling a dry hit of silica?
Obviously there are a lot of people out there who enjoy their clearos and I'm just wondering if maybe I just had bad luck getting a consistent flow to the wick or something? I did all the tilt and whirl tricks but still no luck.
Wouldn't you think they'd manufacture them to wick better?
The only other thing I can think of is maybe it was an airflow issue....
Any input appreciated:)

This is just my opinion...some juices work better in a clearo than others depending on if they are thinner with more PG, etc. But also from what I found, there's just no reliability in the replacement heads and coils coming out of China. Sometimes you will get a good one and many times you won't. I had better luck when I was rebuilding my heads on my vivi's for awhile, but it was harder to do than on my rda so that's my I just naturally started using only my rda and have loved the flavor and throat hit and vapor much better now. I also use high VG juices so RDA's are fail proof for me and always dependable. I was tired of some replacement heads leaking, some burning, some lasting a few days, some lasting a week, etc. etc. And I always made sure to get genuine stuff and not the fake ones, but it didn't matter.

Most likely just wicking, its not just the juice working against gravity, but how much the wicks are being pinched off, it's a very fine line between good and insufficient wicking. Of course the thickness of the liquid and each individuals vaping style (length of draw, time between draws, wattage etc. ) plays a big role also. I think it's hard to make the wicked cartomizers consistent, as far as wicking is concerned, due to these factors being different for everybody. It's just something you have to deal with.

You might try removing a wick from the coil head, I saw PBusardo do that with the Protank to allow it to wick better.

Also consider a cartotank if you've not tried one. Clearomizers only use the smaller wicks to feed liquid to the coil head. Cartomizers are packed full of polyfill to absorb the liquid and totally surrounds the heating coil. Much more efficient wicking method and better flavor and vapor to boot, IMHO. Add to that cartotanks have zero maintanance other the refilling the tanks. Just exchange the cartomizer every 1 - 3 weeks.

The amount of variables are huge. As it's been mentioned, the different juices, the type of clearomiser, and the battery all come into play. Anyone here can tell you what they use but you're the only one that use that information to make an intelligent decision that works for you.

Stick with it, spend some bucks and eventually you'll find what you're looking for.
