The reader on the mod should be fine.

    Now that 'depends'.
Most mods have to fire the coil in order to read the resistance. So I would not make that a blanket statement. There just might be a mod out there that would blow up in your face. OR .. a mod that you would burn up the ckt. board. OR, .......................
All those mods out there were not created equal.

You can find ohm readers out there for next to nothing ...... so why not have one.
Besides, they make a great little stand to mount your atomizer on while you're working on it.

If you have one on your mod they work, a lot of times that's what I do but it is nice to have a second opinion sometimes just to be sure. Computer boards can go south sometimes or get a glitch and read wrong. My IVP D2 is stuck on .3 and will fire lower but won't read lower than .3. So I double check on ohms meter or a second mod. Be safe.

I just bought a 521 Tab by Geek Vape which is an ohms reader and fires the coils. Real nice ohms reader.

    CHEERS!

Well said I agree! Working on a coil on top of your mod will wear down the treads faster even if they are stainless steel. You can replace an ohm meter easily($10) if the treads go bad, not so easily with your mod (Insert price here)
