Thinking of buying this box mod from mad vapes. The description reads as follows:

"The 2xAA sized box uses one 14500 battery which supplies 900mAh of battery life for all day use"

I vape a Riva 510 with 650mah batteries, but they sell 900mah too. Couldn't I just buy the 510 900mah batteries and get the same results? Or am I missing something?

Some people like the box mods because they can carry an extra battery and not have down time while the riva recharges. Some people also like the size and pocket friendliness of the box mods.
But yeah 900mah is 900mah :)

Thanks Lox. I guess another advantage of the box mod would be the ease in getting a replacement battery. They sell those at Radio Shack don't they?

BTW, can you recharge those L-ION batteries?

Yes, Li-ions can be recharged with a proper Li-ion charger.

The Riva provides actual battery voltage to the atty/carto. The MV box does the same thing. Basically, a Li-ion batt comes off a charger @ 4.2V. Nominal voltage is 3.7V. It can be safely discharged to 3.2V (unloaded). Protected batteries are a must if you're using and unregulated PV. The Riva has regulation built in to prevent over-discharge. THe MV box does not. It's a box, connector, button and contacts. Over-discharged Li-ions can be explosive and/or ingite. We're talking about stored energy. It can be volatile like a can of gasoline is stored energy and volatile. Protected batteries have a built-in circuit to prevent over-charge and over-discharge.

I prefer a box in my pocket over a tube-shaped PV. I build my own PVs. Anyone can build the MV box from the parts supplied by them.

the biggest difference between that box and your Rivas (other than the form factor) is the amp limitation. the box has a fairly large amp limit at 5 amps. the rivas are most likely less than 3 amps. but unless youre using super low resistance coils, you wont need the extra amperage.
