Do I need to worry about setting off my smoke detector with this thing?

I'm noticing that the vapor isn't dissipating all that quickly and I'm nervous that the smoke alarm is going to join in with the neighbor's car alarm that has been going off all afternoon. I never smoked indoors here so I have no idea what the smokiness threshold is - is setting them off a common occurrence or not something to really worry about?

if you have an optical smoke detector, Then yes you can set it off with e-cig vapor.

That's what I was afraid of - I think the new one I just got that hooks into my security system is optical. I haven't put that one up yet, so I'll place it far from the couch.

Wow I never even considered such a thing... I wouldn't think it'd detect water-vapor the way it detects smoke...

A fog machine doesn't set off a smoke alarm, to the best of my knowledge.

Do you have a fan you can run? I notice you are in New Orleans. The humidity may have a play in how fast it is not going away. Putting humidty from the vapor into already humid air....

i have optical smoke detectors in my house as well, mine takes direct hit from a big cloud to set them off.. but yours might be more sensitive.

I think Robino hit the nail on the head - while it uncharacteristically cold today (well, by New Orleans standards, at least) it poured for about 16 hours straight yesterday and my house is, uhhh, historic, so it gets super humid in here. Running the ceiling fan is a great idea, and probably why I didn't notice the vapor until today. Turned the fan off because it was SO cold when I woke up (62 degrees - stop snickering).

Me and my buddy set off his fire alarm one night when we were both dripping lol. Didn't even really take that long.

I monitor residential and commercial fire alarms. Trust me, fog machines can set off fire alarms.

Cool to see another New Orleans native here! I actually had the same question, but you beat me to it! I noticed that the smoke does linger if I have no fan on, but as long as I do it clears out pretty quickly and I don't have to worry about whether the smoke alarm will pick it up or not. Happy vaping

Hello there fellow NOLA vapor. Like others have mentioned a direct cloud of vapor will set off a optical smoke detector. Should have a reset button on it if that happens though.

The humidity is strong with us! Interesting to me that vaping doesn't seem to have taken off much here, given how many people do smoke. I only tried vaping while visiting friends out of state - I don't think I know of anyone here who vapes. Well, besides you two!

Well you should visit some local shops then you will find plenty of local vapors.
