do i really need an ohm reader?

I own a provari and I check my coil build on it since it has protection and I have even watched a video to do a Z atty pro on a provari on the provape site. So from what I understand if it isn't a mech mod that can't check the ohms then you need one but if you have a device that has the ohms check then it is safe..I'm only doing what provape has on the website. and I'm assuming the MVp is similiar to a provari as it checks..
Yes, your MVP will be fine. It will read any resistance down to at least .7, that's as low as I've ever gone, but won't fire anything below .8
Okay cool. But the employee at my local vape shop said i cant fire below 1.5?? Anyone know about that??
Mine will fire a .9 ohm coil but it's not likely that it is performing well. I don't like to fire anything under 1.5 on my MVP2. There's no reason or benefit that I've found from doing so. It just runs down the battery faster.
Online sources state an amp limit of 3.0, which I'm taking with a grain of salt.
V = I*R, so 3.7 V = 3 A * R.
3.7 / 3 = 1.2 Ω
Anything under 1.2 ohms (at nominal voltage for a lithium battery) won't fire any better than a 1.2 ohm. You've hit the amp limit the device can produce and it won't go much (if at all) beyond it.
That'll vary between 1.4 ohms (full battery) and 1.1 ohm (almost dead battery), but 1.5 ohms is a good compromise to make sure you get a consistent vape throughout the entire battery life. That will be the same whether the battery is full or just about to run out of power.
You can certainly go lower if you want, down to the limit of the device, but the vapor production won't improve much, if at all. In the range given above, the vape will vary a little through the battery lifespan.

Ya, if you build your own for use on the MVP, shoot for around 1.8 as I've found 1.5 to 2.0 to be the best range depending on tank and juice.
I would still recommend getting an OHM meter.
It is always a good idea to check between the 2 devices.
Plus it is generally quicker to read, and build on, while adjusting the coil, cause there are occasions where
adjusting a coil will change the resistance, and you can make sure you are proper before putting it on your device and checking again.

The MVP IS, basically, an ohm meter, and it will measure resistances past what it can actually fire (pretty accurately, better than my cheap HF multimeter (or my expensive HF multimeter for that matter)).
Ehh i think for now ill just use my mvp.
