I spent 2 months researching rba's, electrical terminology/theory, and watching tutorials from folks who knew what they were doing with rebuildables. I did this BEFORE I even tried to wrap my first coil. There is lots to learn, so please be safe and heed the warnings from everyone in here.

And... I don't care what your battery is rated for.... do not go below 1-1.2 ohms.

Like Randy C, I spent a lot of time researching before wrapping my first coil and already had a background in electronics.

I would like to 2nd Mama Tried's suggestion to read up on what Battitude has to say about batteries. I spent many hours scouring the site before running into his threads and its some of the best info you can get.

Happy vaping. :)

Ok so after a sleepless night,I think I figured it out.. after reading battitudes thread it had me worried about my battery blowing up or something. So after starting at the ohms law graph and help from the electrician at work, I read my ohms on my addy and looked up the spec's on my battery. I m running a 1.0 ohm duel coil. With a 3.7 volt battery. The max amps for my battery is 5.2. So I took my ohms and divided it by my watts and got 3.7 amps.. PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG. Lol. But from what I've read my battery should be pretty safe.

That 3.7 volt battery charges to 4.2. While it's unlikely you will ever fire a coil with 4.2 volts(it will drop under load) you should base your calculation on that number instead. Brings you in at 4.2 amps. I see you are using an HTC one. There is a couple apps that would be of use to you on the play store. Ohms law calculator and vapers toolbox. Go download them.

You don't ever calculate what current you'll need by 3.7volts from battery. It's recommended to use 4.2. Even though there's no such thing as a 100% efficient circuit, better safe than sorry.

And you get the square root of power÷resistance to find current. You ended up in the right place. You just left that part out of your text.. It's also easier to get your current with the values you'll already know with a mechanical, voltage (4.2)÷ resistance= current..so in this case 4.2(E)÷1(R)=4.2 (I)

Please read the info in the rebuilding subforum and watch a ton of videos on rebuilding before proceeding.

Ohms matter a great deal and not knowing what you're doing with respect to resistance and rebuildables can result in very, very bad things happening.

Just looking out for ya, buddy.

Couldn't have said it better myself. One thing to remember is that the closer you get to zero.....you are only that far away from a short! In this instance....shorts bad!

With a mech mod knowing your battery is a must. The lower the ohms the higher the amps that are drawn from the battery. I use 30 amp continuous batteries for my mech builds. Something like the Sony 18650 VTC4 or the new Efest Purple 30 amp 18650 would be a great choice. I use the Sony's personally, and have ordered some of the Sony 50 amp 26650 for my new Big Nasty Mech mod that should be showing up in a week.

If you have to ask why, then you should go back and study and read all the threads on the inherent dangers of using a mech mod and battery care. You are the only safety device that is used in a Mechanical device. If you don't know what you are doing, then you may never get the chance to understand, because that first vape could be the last one you'll ever be able to take.

Not trying to scare you, but yes I am. People who are thinking of going Mech, should already know about batteries, ohms law, amp requirements, have the tools of the trade to check the ohms of the build and battery voltage, and their questions should be more like, hey, was looking at the Sony VTC4, the new Efest Purple 30 amp 18650, and the MNKE IMR 1500mah18650, which have you noticed that delivers that best power for the longest, and fades slowest. With a question like that, we'd at least know you did your home work and were asking the right questions.

I don't know everything there is to know about mechanicals, but I know enough which battery I am going to use when firing a .3 ohm build, and which one I wouldn't dare to try. All the information one needs to know is on this forum. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...help-picking-best-battery-sub-ohm-vaping.html is just one of the threads concerning batteries. there are many more.

uploadfromtaptalk1390324296170.jpg this is the battery I have.. but I think it might be good enough. But then again I have to build the coil to find out. What I'm going for is duel micro coils around 1 ohm maybe a lil lowerd or higher would be fine.
