If they aren't vaping or have been exposed to it all they see is what they expect: your vapor is smoke. Nothing more than that. Perceptual filtering.

I've had several people ask for smokes from me while I'm quite clearly not puffing a cig (see below; she's blue, chrome and red). The mind can play serious tricks on you.

As for the lighter, we got burned for it (so to speak) on the weekend when we had nothing to light our BBQ on the beach.

Not as of yet but at birthday parties when they're getting ready to light the candles and can't find a lighter everyone turns and looks at me.

Same thing happened on the 4th of July when my brother broke out the fireworks. I'm like, "What? Stop looking at me..."

So now I keep one in my pack (it's also useful for making micro coils on the fly). You never know when you might wake up stranded on a desert island. Only happened to me once but I smoked then so....

This reminds me of a few weeks ago. Hubs and I went out for dinner. As we were leaving, one of the employees was going outside and asks me if he can bum 4 cigarettes from me! I told him I don't smoke, so no.

What surprised me more than him asking was that he asked for FOUR cigarettes!! Who does that?!?!?! Back when I smoked, people would ask to bum 1, but to bum 4?? Based on what cigs cost when I quit, that guy wanted to bum 20% of a pack of smokes, or $1.20 worth of smokes. I found the request for 4 cigs to be kinda rude. Based on where he worked and his ability to serve alcohol, he was old enough to purchase cigarettes. To run out is one thing, but to beg for a substantial portion of a pack of smokes is a different story. One of the 10,000 reasons I am glad I quit!

I think that 20cm of chrome is hard to miss:)
Not when it's all in the palm of your hand and the only thing visible is the drip tip. I use joyetech 510s on a small box mod (2xaaa)when I'm out and about. Now if I still get the same thing with my 18650 bottom feeder that'll be a different story

Yeah, I still get asked for a light from time to time, mostly by folk who see me out in the smoking areas at music events and such. I never leave the house without a full zippo, pocket knife and my wallet, though, so it's not really an issue for me. When people ask for smokes, it's a "nope, no tobacco here".
