If I understand you correctly, it's just the carto, which you are using at this moment that is flooding, yes?
Yep. It's all gurgly and spitting juice at me. It's a 2 hole smoktech flanged carto sitting in one of their DCT tanks. My juice is a 70/30 PG/VG blend. I've tried single hole cartos, but they don't work as well for keeping the filler saturated with juice. They are pre-drilled holes, and pretty tiny ones at that.

Must be user error of some kind. If I blow excess juice through it clears it up for a bit. Have to keep paper towels at the ready.

Some carto brands are more known for flooding issues than others. Smoktech's polyfill is less dense than Boge's or Ikenvape's, so they tend to flood easier. Once any carto has begun flooding repeatedly, there will be little chance to save it. You can try turning the tank upside down (drip tip down) and blowing excess juice out of the air hole, then "pre-burning" the carto (a 2 second firing of the carto before sucking) a few times in an attempt to vaporize excess juice.

You might also examine your vaping technique. Sucking too hard can pull too much juice into the cartomizer at once. Patient, slow, gentle draws of 3 - 6 seconds length work best...allowing the right amount of juice to be pulled from the tank to inside the cart.

I did a cartotank tutorial in this blog article. It has a couple of videos on proper technique of carto and tank filling. The second video is by PBusardo who offers suggestions for troubleshooting issues such as flooding and dry hits.

you will also find your cartos flooding if your tank (asusming you're using one) isn't air tight. tanks with fill holes for instance. if that fill hole isn't properly plugged/sealed you will flood every time. have you noticed any bubbles appearing in the tank when you draw on it coming from anywhere other than the carto holes? be sure to check the top of the tank as well...

I've had good luck with the following method to clear a flooded carto. In severe cases I've gone through the process several times but it's always worked.

Take a single square of toilet tissue. Grab one corner and twist between your thumb and forefinger, in one direction only, to make a very fine rolled tip. Insert into the battery end of the carto and twist gently in the direction you wound the tissue in and carefully push it up as far as you can. With my Ikenvape std cartos I can get it in at least an inch. Leave it there for 30 sec at least and remove. Repeat until clear.

If possible, increase your wattage. For me this would be 4.9v on a 2.2ohm carto. Take long, slow hits. Deal with a couple hits that taste burnt. Set it down and repeat in 5 min. You should then be able to return to normal wattage, for me that's 3.7v on a 2.2 ohm carto.

I use 100% VG with 2 hole Ikenvape cartos, works beautifully.

I've brought cartos back from the grave with this.

Excellent advice-- saved my Ikenvape. Thanks so much.

I have Boge single coil 2.0 ohm 2 hole carts. I prefer the single hole. I take a flat toothpick on the small end and twist it into one of the holes. I turn it 4 times or so then snap it off and clip it with nail clippers. Creates a good plug. I think the wood expands when saturated for a good seal. Also, I think the filler helps hold it in place. Never had one come out. But back on topic, I never or rarely have a flooding issue using 70/30 pg/vg. And, I never have a dry hit.

I've never really had problems with flooding, but I did with dry hits. I was using 18 drops to prime on low ohm carto's and then went to 3ohm carto's and used the same priming amount and was getting completely dry hits every time which would instantly destroy the carto. Started using 38 drops to prime and had no issues.

I have found that when I let it sit for a while without using it (I use RBA's also) the carto floods, but other then that I've had no problems with flooding.

I've had enough flooding issues with cartomizers lately to make me question why I bother. I'm awaiting some wick and coil to rebuild some Protank heads in hopes that I can get a problem free clearomizer out of the mix so I can have some hassle free vaping. Cartomizers and I got off to a fantastic start (carto tanks in particular) but anymore I wonder about them. 5 days and 3 cartomizers? No thanks...
