It depends:

If it comes from the USA, I know that FDA, EPA, and USDA have got my back. No worries there.

If it comes from China, a thorough sanitization and sterilization ritual is required.

Not this guy. I'm not trusting them. All my tanks, rdas, rbas, drip tips get an everclear soak, wipe down, and rinse in very hot water for a bit. I'm never in a rush to use them, so why not take the precaution. Plus it gives you a good chance to inspect the equipment. To each their own.

The best commercial bottled water is no where near as good as a home filtration system.
Twice as effective in the cleaning department no problem. If I pay premium same sentiments as with low cost items..
I will wash and dry wash and dry until it smells neutral.. Could not taste at first noob experience and it did not matter, unpack, air it out, vape...., woot..
Machine oil is very nasty..

Atomizers get a detergent bath in a jewelry cleaner for 4-5 hrs followed by several rinses with really hot water, hot enough to use tongs.

Heads get the silica removed, dry burn on the coil and replace with boiled cotton.

PV's get a little wipe down with an alcohol prep pad

Batteries go on the charger

Wire and mesh wind up getting a torch, so no worries there.

Basically, I try to get any residual machining oils or solvents off before I commit to inhaling hyper heated vapor from them.

never used to bother cleaning anything cuz i have a black belt in laziness and sloth. i received half a dozen rdas, some from china, some from us vendors. since i was too lazy to build coils at the time, i tossed them in the ultrasonic and ran a cycle every time i went into the kitchen for a few days.

when i finally checked them the water was a dark brown. plus i literally had to scrape a layer of sludge off the UC basket.

I asked the question to see the responses.
And thanks to all who replied!
First the coffee cup analogy doesn't really apply from my seat on this bus...

I started vaping in July and I'm months past having an analog. My hardware purchases have been minor.
I started with a pen and upgraded to a K100 with a magoo and then included an RDA. Throw in a couple BCC tanks, some wick, wire and 18650 batteries. DONE.

When I started from a PAD the concept was too new and trying to make it all "work" was the goal.
Now I'm in a maintenence mode and thinking a little more rationally about the experience.
Like most posts on ECF the replies are educational and sometimes entertaining.

-> THAT is why I asked.

If/when I purchase additional hardware I will indeed clean it as appropriate
