Nope. Believe it or not I've tried it and even after giving my wife 6mg instead of 24mg she ended up buying a pack at the store. It needs to be a gradual thing while your body adjusts to not having all the other junk inside of it. Of course YMMV :)

Can't be a placebo if they know the actual concentration ;)

I didn't tell her. I fill all her bottles for her and they are unmarked so all she knew was what flavor it was. She has been vaping for over a year and still doesn't even really know how to clean her device.

Im curious what the outcome will be.

There are many crazy placebo experiments , where they put harmless cream on subjects hands and they developped a skin rash because they thought its harmful. And these people who had 6x strength gains because they thought they are on Dianabol (steroid). I think this question needs its own experiment!

The placebo effect should work to some degree, just because of the other part of the cigarette addiction, i.e. hand to mouth, sucking in, exhaling, etc. But no, the body will know it isn't getting nicotine, Gradual is the best way. My husband went from 18mg to 6mg as I did without ever being told. I told him from time to time that he had decreased. He has never noticed the difference. He also has never refilled a carto or charged a battery. His ecig just works everyday; that's all that he cares about!!

Guess you won't know until you try it. I know every time I cut back on Nic I crave some. I started off with 24mg, then 18, then 12, my orders that are coming are 6 and 8mg. I alway keep one carto full of the higher nic to drag a couple puffs off of if I get a strong craving. Everytime I order I go down on my Nic so once I finish the 18, 12mg I will start my 6 and 8s. My next order will be 0. Hoping I can achieve this goal. I try not to think about what nic level I am vaping, I just try to enjoy the flavors.

I agree with this completely. If it wasn't for the fact that nicotine gave throat hit, I probably wouldn't know the difference. My addiction is to everything else BUT the nicotine to an extent. I do get nic cravings, but I am waaay more into "playing" with vapor (smoke rings, etc...), having something to do while I'm doing something, and all that fun stuff.

However... I've met people who are the exact opposite. I guess it's just up to the person. :)

Yes, same here. I think this can be attributed to the placebo effect. If you THINK you are getting nicotine your brain is telling your body that you're getting it.

I can almost guarantee that if you vape lower nicotine you'll end up vaping more. Our bodies are pretty good at self regulation.

Not that it's any big news to us addicts, but they're now even admitting that patches are unsuccessful when you stop using them. So no, it's not in your head.

Great point swedishfish! I tried the patch once, and if I could have rolled it up and smoked it I would have! :)

I think it is dependent on what one's goals are, If your goal is to not smoke reduction in nicotine would make one vape more IMO- If your goal is also to get off nicotine completely , you might not vape much more as you reduce mg/ml nicotine as you'd expect some craves but try to deal with that? This makes sense to me based on those who still vape 0 Nicotine juices
