Do you think juice vendors use higher percentages of flavoring?

To the OP, a lot of it is trial and error so I would make several bottles of the mix using different percentages (keep detailed notes) and see which one comes out closer to the flavor your looking for. Seeing that you used 15% cheesecake reminds me of when I first started trying to make a cookie tasting vape I used a high % of the cookie flavoring but found that lowering it to around 5-7% helped it taste more like cookie. About the vendor juices, I think the amount of flavoring varies so much its hard to say. I've heard about a certain vendor juice that uses around 50% flavoring, sounds crazy ha. There's also things like sweetener, AP, EM, apple cider vinegar, distilled water etc that might be used by vendors too in specific juices. Sometimes you get lucky with a juice the first time you make it and other (most) times it takes a lot of tries with a lot of different variables to get it right. Sorry I couldn't be more help, I hope you find the flavor combo your after! :)

This is how I approach it as well. I will sometimes make as many as 11-12 trials (keeping careful notes) before I settle on a decent base recipe. And I go on to tweak it from there. I do make small test batches, and I have some special liquid measuring tools that allow me to do this accurately, so it may not be the way to go for everyone, although if you are careful with measurements you could use drops of flavor in a similar way.

Another thing I do is once I get a decent base recipe, I will make up a fairly large size batch of that and divide it up into smaller batches. Then I will add different 'accent flavors', sweeteners, or 'enhancers' in different proportions to each smaller portion, to see what else works to give it more complexity. It's amazing how many distinctly different liquids you can make by adding even fractions of a percent of different flavors to the same base recipe.

I don't do this all in one day. I continue tweaking and playing with recipes for weeks and even months. Some of my trials are keepers and some get abandoned quickly.

I'm not a fan of the FA Bilberry. It tastes like a mix of gym sock and spoiled milk. The best blueberry I've found (and I think I've tried them all), is Azure blueberry. Strong, tart and realistic.

EWWWW - that sounds disgusting! 'Sorry it didn't work for you :(

Our experience has been more like these reviews from ECX:

I never would have guessed from sniffing it, but it's one of Flavour Art's very best fruit flavors. Not a trace of the air freshener or ester scents that haunt many a fruit flavoring. Bilberries are very popular in Europe, they are wild blueberries with intense flavor and dark juice. I've tried a few vape blends with this flavor, say 4% bilberry, 3% base flavor, 1% secondary note, a touch of sweetener, and it's really really fine. What really knocks me out is the impression of blueberry skins that feels almost like you're biting down on them. For some reason the flavoring suggests particles, as if the juice were marbled with blueberries, or as if the flavor oscillated on your tongue and in your nose. A masterpiece, Dr. Max! That's reassuring. I have FA Bilberry, but after smelling the flavoring bottle, I put it away without mixing. I don't think I've ever liked a flavoring that smelled 'wrong' in the bottle, but with such great reviews, I'll work up the courage to try Bilberry.

Unfortunately, I placed my order based on those two reviews. The only other review for bilberry on that site was quite negative. For those on a quest for a great blueberry, try the Bilberry and the Azure blueberry, and post up your impressions.

Even at 20% the taste was non existent. I was really hoping for this to be the end all for my Blueberry search. I wouldn't waste your time with this one. (Posted on July 23, 2012)

... is not what we would consider to be "quite negative". Anybody that's experienced using FA flavors knows it would be extremely easy to "get nothing" with FA @ 20%.

'Wasn't trying to invalidate the way you tasted 'gym sock + spoiled milk' (what you experienced IS what you experienced).

We just wanted to point out that others had different experiences (especially since we know that the OP has had a lot of success with FA).

They typed "even at 20%", which would indicate that they tried it first at other percentages. They went on to tell others not to waste their time. I'd certainly consider that a negative review and can't believe anyone would argue otherwise.

I know I've read other less than favorable reviews of Bilberry right here on ECF, so I wanted to point out that not everyone perceives the flavor as you and the two other reviewers on ECX do.

Great tip! I never thought of making a bigger batch and then separating it to tweak those, thanks I'm gonna have to try that! :)
