Tank - Vision Vivi Nova V3
Wick - Graham 44060 Cellucotton ($11.49 per 500ft (lifetime supply))

Type: Floating wick
Placement: Above coil

WHY
1) Pop out the wick - dry burn coil
2) Pop in new wick
3) proceed

PROS
With additional tanks there is virtually no interruption of your vaping sessions.

CONS
none.

At all day vaping, the average wick life is about 4-5 days before the taste starts to get too acrid. The procedure for replacing the wick is so quick and simple that I will sometimes replace the wick at the slightest hint of bad taste (real or imagined).

Coils can be dry burned until the "stems" become too gunked up for practical use. At which point the atty is rebuilt. That occurs about once every 2-3 weeks (per tank-depending on my rotation).

As I purchased new tanks (not anymore, I have enough now), first thing I would do was rip out the factory build and rebuild the atty to my specs.

If anything, I think the taste is better than when I was using the IN-Coil method.
And a lot less of a PITA.

I have to admit - sometimes I'll be vaping, and I'll rebuild an atty or two just for the hell of it. You know, "Idle hands do the work of the Devil" kinda stuff…

What kinds of methods do you use?

I almost always run my wicks in the coils as I find this works best for consistency. Once in a while, I will build some dragon coils with the wick wrapped around the outside of a nano coil, and works great, but very occasionally the wick will burn before I start to notice that it is time to re-drip. I don't have that problem with my standard micro coils, and they make just as much vapor, so that is usually what I stick to.

Gonna building my coil very soon so it will be a standard wick, but never heard of or seen a floating wick even after google and youtube searches.

Yes. the term seems to be unconventional.
Some refer to them as "floater" wicks.

The techniques vary quite a bit depending on the atty being used.

Here's some info from the net.
