Do you vape for nicotine, habit, or flavor?

I traded one habit for another, what I believe to be a less harmful alternative.

All three.
It's kept me from cigarettes for almost 8 years

+2 on the above. Nearly six years tobacco free for me. I never would have thought I'd ever say this, but I enjoy vaping more than I ever enjoyed smoking, and that's saying something considering how dependent I had become to cigarettes.

Vaping solves three issues to those attempting to quit smoking that traditional stop smoking aids fail at:

  1. Vaping replaces the physical addiction to nicotine via a safer alternative; no combustion or smoke which is the main culprit leading to lung cancer and COPD.
  2. Replicates the "hand-to-mouth" behavior which is so deeply engrained in the habit.
  3. Replicates the psychological and physical need to inhale and exhale a visible substance like smoke, substituted with vapor.
Nicotine gum/lozenges/patches, prescription drugs, and hypnosis don't touch all three. All of the traditional methods failed me multiple times.

I think I may be vaping simply because I just love the tasty flavors out there. I've only tried a handful so far due to costs, but I'm so addicted to the flavor of my ADV. I certainly think habit is part of it as a relatively new non-smoker, but I'm wondering if I may not be vaping more simply for the flavor. It's curbed my craving for sweets and just makes me happy. I've even considered dropping from 3mg to 0mg to see if it makes any difference, but I figured I better use up my small stash here first. :)

Just wondered what everyone's general thoughts are on their own vaping experience.

I started vaping to get off cigarettes so that would be the nicotine but I continue because because I really enjoy the flavor but also the ritual of the hand to mouth thing. Plus now it’s become a hobby making my own liquids and soon coils.

The hand to mouth, the right amount of vapor and TH for sure. But, it's not actually pleasurable without the flavor. Just a boring means to an end.

I assume I need nicotine. I'm not sure. I tried 0 mg juice. But, it tasted so bad that I didn't continue the experiment. I could experiment with no nic AND no flavors to see what that tastes like. But, with flavorings I definitely need nic for them to develop. I know my life is better with caffeine. I assume nic is the same.

Besides, I already have a lifetime supply of nic.

It really depends on what I’m doing. If I’m driving, I’m vaping out of habit. If I’m driving to work, I start vaping at the same stop light I would light a cigarette.

If I’m having drinks, I pretty much chain vape, because I would crush a bunch of cigarettes while having drinks. For me, the drink bone is connected to the smoke bone.

Aside from that, I don’t really vape all that much. I don’t need an after dinner vape, or a first thing in the morning vape.

Mostly vape 6 mg of nic, but if I’m drinking alcohol, I up it to 12 in a mouth to lung tank, because for me, that’s when I would really want a cigarette.

I understand that I’m probably just playing mind games with myself, but if the little devil on the one shoulder is happy, I’m still not smoking, and at the end of the day, that’s what counts for me.

I've never smoked a cigarette. I smoke cigars and pipes during the summer, and vape during the winter when its too cold to smoke outside. I can't smoke indoors so this is how I get my fix. :) I do it for the ritual I get from smoking my pipe and cigars, as well as for some of the nic buzz I get from them. I will admit I do like the gadget aspect of it, much like I do from my pipes. Always something new to test and try. As far as flavor, I do try lots of different flavors. I DIY so I'm always mixing up new juices like a mad scientist to see what I can find that I like, so its a bit for the flavor as well. I do have afew tobacco juices I like, so I kinda rotate between different flavor profiles.

To be honest I really dont notice the nicotine when I vape barely at all - in fact i can vape stupidly high nicotine and still at times crave a cigarette- I do do better however with wta juices and perfectly with snus ( I actually prefer to have with low nic rather than stupidly high with snus where as vaping is very different for me)

What i do like about vaping is the mouth feel and substitute of habit and also at times throat hit - especially when I am being mindless at the computer - I did also find that finding my flavours helped me 'click' better with vaping

If dropping to 0 nic - there are ways to make it feel as though you are vaping with nicotine without actually using nicotine which is probably better for the original non smoker turned vaper (I was a pack- to 2 pack a day smoker) - I know that flavour art some - haven't tried them myself but some people seem to say good things about them
