Vaping habits vs smoking habits? Are yours as different as mine?

Oh my, yes I am vaping like a freak. I am just loving it, maybe a little too much... IDK. Still feel so much better than when I was smoking though. I think it's the flavors for me (ok... I KNOW it's the flavors) and it is just so enjoyable. This is coming from a PAD+ smoker for 25+ years. In the past few years I do not believe I enjoyed a single smoke more than I enjoy vaping now. Smoking got to the point for me where I would HAVE to have one, so I would go have a smoke break and that was all I was doing. I think I am a born multi-tasker, so taking the time to *just* smoke kinda drove me nuts at times. So smoking was just down and dirty, quick, and then back to other stuff. Plus, I just figured out that it is because I now vape everywhere (when I'm in the kitchen cooking, on the computer, sitting down watching TV, etc...) whereas before vaping, I only smoked certain places (outside, sitting in front of the wood stove with a fire going, etc) so that is contributing a lot to why I vape way more than I smoked. I never "freely" smoked anywhere in my home.
So yeah, feeling a little obsessive with the vaping but enjoying it too much at the moment to worry about it.

first time I've seen tar mentioned. does anyone have the numbers i.e. how much tar not deposited per pack or volume of tar not accumulated?

I liked the idea that you were proposing there Oinotna, so I went googling for the tar and CO in the brand I used to smoke. I was astonished at the figures!

On average, each cig contains around 13-16mg of tar and 7-13mg of CO! Good lord, what were we thinking!!?

There's actually a thread on ECF that can help. Go to the link here --> http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/backwoods-brew/188572-signature-banner.html

See my sig below, and thanks for the idea! :)

I vaped more than I smoked at first which was a BUNCH as I was 3 PAD smoker! I have settled into a routine now, instead of vaping continuously I now vape a bit 6-7 toots then set it down, I did not try to do this it just happened. I discovered a new behavior recently, I am actually forgetting to vape right after a meal occasionally, I will have the dishes done and the kitchen cleaned before I want to vape, that NEVER happened when smoking, I was lighting up before I would swallow the last bite!

Still relatively early days.

Out of work the 18650 mod is rarely out of my hands but I tend to take 3 or 4 hits then stop for a bit. With a cig I wouldn't stop till it was done.

I got caught in my first week with battery issues hence I have a pair of 18650 mods and 4 back up batteries. Never leave the house without either both mods or 1 mod and 2 spare batteries, yes 18650's that I know from thrashing them last over 24 hours but I need to know they are there.

Last weekend I went to Tampa so had all 4 spare batteries. I killed one battery but was home before the 2nd stopped that gratifying Bounty Hunter vape.

As for work I take the occasional snort at my desk but only when I am stuck on a conference call. Usually I try to follow my previous smoking regimen which mirrors what most here did, hourly. I do have another advantage in that I work 3 - 12 so come 5pm everyone other than my staff have gone for the day. I sit in my office a fair way away so can sneak the odd hit. Have some flavourless juice that I bought but never tried for that occasion.

Yes the PV seems to be in my hand more than cigs were but I am sure that it is actually like for like as regards hits taken. I know I am not going to waste anything with the PV but if I lit a cig it was finished so am a little more relaxed.

I am vaping constantly...but then I smoked constantly too. I was awful! Vaping, I think it's the flavors for me. Someone else mentioned that too. I even made a few juices that I am thoroughly enjoying. I just made 5 ml of bubblegum that tasted pretty good right away but I'm going to let it steep for a week. I haven't left my ecigg by my bed at night..not yet anyway hahaha. Who knows. It could happen. I am just so excited and happy about vaping. It's wonderful! Right now I'm vaping a really good creme de menthe I made with tons of menthol! YUM!

Yes, I'm vaping constantly. Its been a couple of months now since I quit smoking after 50 yrs of 1.5 PAD. I don't get the nicotine anxiety I used to get smoking, but the ejuice is just so much more enjoyable that I find myself vaping alot. I only got too much nic once when I was trying some 2.4% - I just went back to 1.8% and haven't had a problem. I plan to transition to 0% and see how that works out in a couple of weeks - it has worked for a couple of people on the Forum. Have fun with your new hobby and enjoy the community here, knowing that no matter what your frequency vaping you're healthier than you would be smoking.

One big change vaping has put me through as opposed to smoking is a change of consciously thinking about it. With cigarettes I'd often find myself smoking and realize I didn't remember taking it out of the pack or lighting it, it was just there, burning & half-gone. When I started vaping, every time I wanted a cig I reminded myself I had 3 choices: I had to decide to smoke, to vape, or to postpone the decision until later. I didn't intend to quit smoking but my cig use just dropped from 1.5 PAD to 1 pack every 3 days, with no effort. That sort of amazed me, after nearly half a century of smoking. Oh, and that was on one of those ripoff "free trial offer" deals I'd have been warned about in the stickies above, if only I'd gotten here first!

Happy Vaping! :vapor:

hey daniele, i just started also, I have 22 days off analogs, and yes I vape like a freight. I think it's because of the freedom so far to vape anywhere. just make sure to have an extra bottle of juice so you wouldn't have to recur to analogs if you finish it off before restocking. I guess this wil continue until we develop a good technique and get all the nic we need when vaping; Is this so, or is chain vaping something that goes on and on????
