I was an outside smoker only for almost 19 years of my 40+ year smoking habit. Before I started vaping, I counted how many drags I would take on a cig and the results came up to 18 max. PAD X 18 = 360 drags on a cig per day. More or less.
When I started vaping, it seemed like I was going way over that. My wife and a couple others I was around a lot commented that I was constantly hitting the vape and openly questioned if I was intaking way more nic then with the cigs. Then I picked up an MVP2 and paid attention to the puff counter. To my surprise, the highest count I ever got was about 320 and normally would not exceed about 240. Some days I would not even hit 200.
Thinking about it, it does make some sense for my "habits" anyway. Smoking outside, especially during winter time, I would bundle up to step outside and would want to get every benefit from the effort that I would almost inhale the smoke with every breath. And if I would let a couple hours pass between "bundles", I might light two up to satisfy my needs. Being able to vape inside, be it the house or car, I would maybe take a hit every 5 to 10 minutes.
Adding it all up and taking into consideration the nobody really watched or counted cig puffs outside, cigs were a "series of sprints" lasting 5 - 10 minutes done every 1 - 2 hours. Vaping is "a marathon" of continual, occasional puffs stretched out over the day. And once again, the tortoise wins out over the hare.
And that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
