Here's a poll that was done not too long ago: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/polls/33605-how-do-you-inhale.html
I inhale straight into the lungs as I did with analogs.
I didn't know anyone direct inhaled real cigs...now I know how that guy I smoke with at the bar smokes an entire cigarette in 2 minutes.
I think I've only ever known one or two people who made a practice of direct-inhaling their cigarettes, and I always though it looked peculiar. And when I tried it myself I found it an unpleasant assault on the bronchials. It seems more do-able with vapor, but not for me. (Old habits...)
What I do find myself doing increasingly (and I'll bet a lot of you are too) is double-dragging: taking some vapor in and then taking some more in as I exhale out the nose. The kind of thing I usually reserve, when smoking, for when I'm trying to finish a cigarette quickly (still present tense, increasingly past tense).
there is no real secret to the direct lung inhale, just breath rather than suck, expand the cheast and diaphram, like when you get a physical, and the doc goes for the lung test. the throat hit is magnified, and the exhaled vapor cloud is drastically diminished.
I inhale directly into my lungs, but I put my tongue up a bit, so the vapor (and flavor) glides over it in the process, so I taste it on the way in, and on the way out.
I use the same method I did when I smoked analogs. From mouth and then into lungs. IMHO, I think this method really lets you "taste" your ejuice. Direct inhaling makes my throat sore after awhile.
