I used Wen for a brief period until I realized I could get the same effect by using a good conditioner to wash my hair every other time and shampoo in between. My hair is in much better condition now. Try experimenting with other conditioners and you'll find one that works just as well without using so much product. Same effect - your hair doesn't get as stripped as using a shampoo all the time but the oils in the conditioner actually remove oil and dirt (maybe because like dissolves like? - I dunno). The Wen is so expensive if you use the amounts they tell you to; plus, I didn't want to be continuously charged and shipped more product even when I didn't need or want more...that bugs me.

Is that a yarmulke on your cat? Cute!

No, but I'll look into it now that you mentioned it. The only other product I tried was by the guy who founded Aveda and left to form a new company (Horst something-or-other), can't remember the name of the product. It was very expensive and not "all that". I've just been using my regular conditioner as shampoo.....you'd think it wouldn't seem clean or that it would be oily, but it's not - much shinier and controllable.

Yes. I use an old standby, Paul Mitchell The Conditioner. You can get a small bottle of it to try at Ulta; some drug stores even have it. It's a leave-in, but I also use it when my hair is dry, for that purpose, by rubbing a small amount into hands and smoothing it over the top of hair. Works really well as a leave-in, too.

I haven't tried but I'll admit I've been tempted - probably just the price is holding me back. Right now I'm using Dermorganic Sulfate-free shampoo and Devacurl conditioner. Devacurl has a lo-poo and no-poo shampoo that might be worth a look. Both Dermorganic and Devacurl are sulfate and cone-free and I love em'.

But when next I get to splurge, it probably won't be Wen but instead will be my all time favorite Bumble and Bumble thickening shampoo.

I only wash my hair about twice a week and I use a baking soda and water mix, in between it just gets massaged with warm water. I have a friend who is a hairdresser and she says shampoo is terrible for your hair and recommends Wen if you really need something. My hair gets much less oily now and looks a lot better since I started this regimen!

Edit- and it only costs me about 4$ a year for baking soda.... so it's pretty cheap to try!

I use this everywhere: Hair, beard, body. It doesn't strip my hair, so no conditioner is needed. If you neutralized the pH+ you could eat it. It's all organic food grade oils.

Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps Retail Store: Peppermint Liquid Soap

Diluted it's gentle enough to use on a baby. I've used it to wash the car, dishes, mop the floor.
