Does battery drain when not in use?

I read somewhere that if you leave the battery connected to the atti when not in use, say over night, that the battery is in stand-by mode and will drain the battery. Is this true? I hope not because I have several e cigs laying around with different flavors so I can switch flavors throughout the day without fussing around. It would be a hassle to have to take them all apart every night when I go to bed.

I leave my atties and cartos on my PVs all the time and I've never had this happen.

The battery will slowly drain on its own. I don't think that the atty will make a difference unless it is an automatic set up.

The ship that turns the system on in an automatic battery can be set off by several things including noise. If the atty is connected, it will drain a lot more energy by heating it up.

I just picked up my old 401 from my kit to vape on, its been in my tackle box for about three months fully assembled, and its been vaping all day and I haven't charged it yet. So at least with this model, its an auto, the battery did not drain at all.

I don't know much about automatic batteries. But, what Astatine says about them sounds familiar. But, you didn't say whether or not you're concerned about auto or manual batteries.

I use manual batteries exclusively and have NEVER had a problem with my batteries draining as a result of being attached to an atomizer 'overnight'. Never being 16 months in my case.

So far as discharging 'on their own', i.e. not even attached to an atomizer ... yes. I'm sure it is true, as with all batteries, they will discharge over time. However, I have some eGo type batteries which I purchased in bulk six months ago (November). They were delivered charged, and I've broken one out as recently as last week ... still charged. The discharge in storage is VERY slow, most definitely not overnight.

Sorry I forgot to mention battery type. I was referring to auto batteries. My 901 auto battery seems to die on my shortly after vaping in the morning, which is what prompted my question. It could just be a coincidence since it's one of my favorites so I use it alot. I've read that auto batteries can turn on due to wind, noise & vibration but I've never seen this happen even when I tried to make it happen.

I think the best way to know for sure is to try one night with the atomizer off and one night with it attached.

It should not make any difference if the battery is attached to an atomizer or not. Unless the battery is activated (by either depressing the manual button or sucking on an automatic) there is no complete circuit to the atomizer, so it is the same as if it were not attached to anything. However all batteries do discharge very slowly over time, the amount of discharge overnight would be so small you would not notice it.

I have been vaping for almost two years now, and I never remove attys at night. They always seem stronger not weaker the next day.
