I'm sure this is another dumb question to ask lol, but I was wondering if the dimensions of the 18650 batteries should be taken into consideration when choosing them for your mod? I was really interested in getting the LG HD2 18650 batteries but I was told that they were bigger than the others. Is there a possibility that they would not fit into the mod? The mod I plan to use them with is the smok x cube 2. I was originally going to get the blue samsung 25rs but I found out that the lg hd2s have a little more power so I decided to go with those. But if I was misinformed then I wouldn't mind going back to the 25rs. Thanks for the help

an 18650 battery is 18mm diameter, and 65mm long.

There are button tops and there are flattops.
Some mods require buttontops.

Also, There is a variance of a few mm length wise and maybe up to 1mm in width between cells, even from the same manufacturer. I have cells that wont fit in some mods.

Then adding up to 5 mm for the button.

Usually the tech sheet will state the true dimensions.

You'll want others input - there ARE size differences, but I don't know that mod.
However - I also think you linked the wrong LG.
The one most people have been excited about is the HG - not that HD...
Well I had listed the lg hd2 because of its 25A discharge rate which I was told means that it is more powerful in comparison to say a samsung 25r 20A discharge but I may be wrong. And I know that the 2000mAh is on the lower end but I'm happy to sacrifice a little bit of battery life for more power.

So - any of these batteries is going to discharge whatever you dial in on your device - as long as they are capable of it. That 20 and 25 amp rating is a MAXIMUM CONTINUOUS rating. We use that number to determine whether it is SAFE to use that battery at a particular watt setting with a particular resistance atomizer.
Even though we don't "continuously discharge" - we just fire for a few seconds - it's the best measurement we have at a glance of how well a battery can handle higher draw.

SO - what's the resistance of your atomizer, and what watt setting do you prefer?
Then stick those numbers in THIS CALCULATOR and see how many AMPS it is.
If it's way under 20, than any of these batteries is fine, and you should go for the higher MAH, which means it will have a longer RUN TIME before it needs re-charging!

Example:
You have a 0.5ohm coil, and you are vaping at 35 watts. That's 8.33 Amps. No problem.
You have a 0.2 ohm coil, and you are vaping at 75 watts. That's over 19 Amps, and you better get the highest AMP battery you can find. There are a couple rated for 30. And there are some (eFest) that CLAIM 30, but are faking it - they're really only 20.

Ok so would you say that the lg hd2 battery would be able to fit in the smok x cube 2? Also would it require a button top? Thanks
I think most mods can take flattops;
I mean it seems to me the flattops seem to be the most common;

or maybe I should say, the most common batteries look like flattops, or maybe like a big button.

the thing is, in some chargers or like that xcube bay where the battery goes in, a flat might be resting on the black plastic and the metal contacts might not make contact

at the lower left and the upper right corners; if you look at those points you can see how a button top would have no problem, but a flattop might have a problem

    Just a side note....
For the OP's xcube 2 he shouldn't use that calculator, it's for mech mods or unregulated mods. For a regulated mod, in VW mode, you calculate the max current draw as Max Amps = Max Wattage / Min Battery Voltage.

It brings the current up some, versus that calculator, but not by much at those lower power levels.

[edit] changed equation to emphasize that the min voltage variable is the battery voltage.

Find a source for authentic sony vtc4 in stock. Ask around.

If you cant source them and know they're authentic, go with the lg hg2 or samsung 25r.

These are the only batteries I'd trust in that mod. Before the batteries are depleted, that mod is capable of pulling over 20 amps from each battery. You need something stout and proven in there.

Please ignore edyle for the moment. He's only confusing things.

It's important to emphasize the Min Voltage is measured at the cell also.

To keep it simple I would say go ahead with button tops the terminals in most box mods are adjustable and you should not run out of room, however some flat tops will not work.
    See...

That right there is what I was talking about... The confusion.

This is a 160 watt mod.

It has a series battery configuration.

One batteries voltage isn't going to level the other out while resting as they're depleted.

Let's assume one battery, if not both is going to get down to 3.5 volts before the mod cuts off.

Also assume the wattage setting is going to change in his pocket at some point.

160 watts at 3.5 volts is over 40 amps.

Shared between 2 cells, that's over 20 amps for the circuit.

There isn't a button top on the market I'd trust with that.

    He needs flat tops.

The mod had better work with them because it's spec'd for them. Period.
