does boiling a cart completely rid it of any liquid and flavor inside?

by accident I mixed a cart I thought was mocha with mocha and cinnamon bun (didn't taste too bad ) would boiling that cart get rid of the juice and flavor inside?

Not all of it. I would say just go with it and use flavors that will complement what's in it. Cleaning is hit or miss, and if you miss it will reduce the life and sometimes leave you with a really nasty flavor.

i had a carto that had a flavor that I absolutely despised, not the vendor's fault, took a gamble on an odd flavor and hated it. It was a menthol blend, and menthol is usually hard to get out.

Soaked it in hot water for a few minutes, pulled it out, filled it with clean water and blew it out, repeated several times. Then baked it in the oven at 175 for 15 minutes or so, and now no nasty flavor

Lime is another tough one to get out. On the forum are several ways to clean attys. Personally I clean mine with a hand held steam cleaner. Just a couple of short shots on each end will not only take out the taste, but will knock off the build-up on the coil.

This is not recommended unless you are very careful because the steam cleaner shoots out really hot water and gets the atty hot also. You can get burned. I use a folded up rag or paper towel around it and hold with a pair of pliers.

I do this about every 3 or 4 weeks and my 510's and 901's are about a year old and still going. I got my steam cleaner at Amazon for about $20.

I just hold the atty with tweezers and rinse it with the hottest water possible (holding it under running water) for about a minute, blow it out and let it dry. MOST of the time, that works unless it is a REALLY strong flavor.

I never had any problem getting the flavor out of a cartridge. I just flushed it with hot water. I have had problems getting unwanted flavors out of atties and cartomizers though. Boiling atties along with flushing with alcohol worked for me for the most part with a couple of notable exceptions for juices that had a menthol like component. Yuck. I'm not a menthol guy.

I had some Flue Cured cartos that tasted terrible. The only thing that got the flavor out was soaking them in peroxide for a couple hours, then rinsing with distilled water.

The peroxided corroded or tarnished the metal threads on the carto though.

At a 1.50 a pop, just toss it... sometimes it isn't worth the hassle.. just my two cents though.

Has anyone tried soaking their atty in Baking Soda to get rid of the unwanted flavor?

Baking Soda is supposed to be an odor absorbent. My wife keeps a box of Arm and Hammer in the refrigerator to absorb all the bad odors and it seems to work.

I don't know if my method will work for all flavors, but you may want to try it. I flush out my carts at the kitchen sink. I begin with a mouth full of water, then lean over the sink and gently blow it through the cart. I do this a few times from both ends. I finalize the blow with air until the water quits dripping out. This doesn't remove all the moisture, so the filler has to be completely dried out before refilling.

You don't ever need to boil with that hot of water to remove previous flavor. Beside you can damage the atty using boiling water and melt things that shouldn't be melted

I use alcohol and then rinse out with plain hot tap water and dry out.

Then use.. Good to go..
