does color matter?

i've been thinking about getting a provari vv....i actually like the satin finish, but since it is the cheapest, i'm afraid it will peel or something, my next choice would be the chrome. does it really matter in the long run? would love to hear from those with both the satin finish as well as the chrome thanks.

I have the original finish and it holds up extremely well, in fact may be the best of all in regards to scratches and mars compared to the hi end finishes. I would consider more on how and where your going to use the mod also, if it is going to be a desk top mod only then a higher grade finish would be fine, but if your planning on your unit being an all around out and about PV you may consider the stock finish more so. I'm getting ready to order another myself in a hi grade finish and it being a computer desk mod for dripping only !

i was actually gonna take it out and about, i take the bullet with me now, and i carry 2 ego's as well, probably carry them all when it is all said and done lol, i have a big purse, and i use a dart case to tote it all in

I have the satin finish and I am very happy with it. I have had it since May and it has no nicks or scratches. I originally was only going to use my ProVari in the house, but now I find that I am taking it out more and more. I am always disappointed using my other pv's. Noting compares to the ProVari!!

I've actually recently spoken to Provape and they told me that the Satin/media blasted finish is the most durable finish out of all of the options.

There may be a misunderstanding about the finish on the original - there's nothing to peel off, it's just the bare, blasted metal. It can be scratched if you're determined enough - I had to drop mine in a parking lot to get a ding on it - but there's no coating or anything to peel off. The chrome and black chrome cost more because there's an extra coloring step, that's all.

I have the basic satin model and is very nice looking, if you're concerned about looks. I'd advise get the basic model and use the money you save to get batteries/extension cap/noalox.

I agree with everybody else. I have two ProVaris, a black (the original textured black) and a satin. The satin is my daily workhorse and has taken a pounding. Yes, it has some tiny (I mean TINY) dings in various places but considering what I put it through I'd say it's the most worry-free finish one could ask for in any piece of equipment. The black one I take out for a special mood and stays safely wrapped in bubblewrap otherwise. I'm not interested in finding out how durable the finish is - there could be a day when it might be worth considerably more than I paid for it.

i am definitely getting the satin one, probably next week. if my child wasnt breaking me, i'd order it now! homecoming gown, drivers ed, school clothes, hair do, oh and today she hands me the papers for a CLASS RING, and of course she is allergic to anything but gold......i give up! BUT i will have the provari VV ordered next week. I HOPE!

This may very well be true....since they dont offer it anymore. I had to settle for just the Satin one.

The satin finish is the most durable as it is simply media blasting on the plain stainless steel. No coating to scratch or peel. It is also a very attractive finish and does not show fingerprints.
