When I started mixing my own juice, I thought a 3 week steep was what everybody did. I just saw a flavor review where the person said they were disappointed because they had to let it sit 3 days...

I know some of my flavors seem to set up faster - French vanilla is horrible until at least three weeks, but coffee doesn't seem to change much after the first few days. Do you leave it sit anyway? Or just use it when it's ready?

Is it okay to leave juice at room temp while it steeps, or should it be refrigerated?

I think steeping is just a formality, i mean you can taste minor changes after steeping, but who got that much time nowadays in a fast pace life. I don't do that Just for some slightly change in taste.
Have been mixing my ejuice from 7 months now.

I use a lot of cream base with fruit juices and all of mine take a minimum of a week before they taste the best, 3 weeks would be better.
Since I've just started buying in bulk I've many times run out of a flavor just as it steeped perfectly when I'd just buy 30ml at a time.

It's taken me a full year of vaping to find just 2 juices I use as ADV's that I have liked long enough to know it's safe to buy 120ml too 240ml bottles at a time.
So I'm finally able to have enough steeped juice on hand so I don't have to use a freshly mixed juice before it's steeped.

Steeping also makes a BIG difference when using a low ohm rebuildable tank which really gives such a full flavor vape. Unsteeped juice in my kayfun is NO FUN!

complex and fancy stuff will need more steeping.

if you keep things simple, steeeping won't be as important.

if you're mixing your own stuff, if something doesn't taste good, maybe it needs time to steep; only trying it out will tell you.

you can check out the diy eliquid forum for recipes.

oh; and as dasfriek mentioned: your hardware itself makes a big difference in taste.

Nope. I can't. Zero patience for both mixing my own AND for steeping retail juice. Som I pay extra for the so called premium, pre steeped juices and I've been pretty happy this way. However, I'm used to spending $14 per pack 3 times per day for hubby and myself when we smoked. Gotta love NYC. I'd need to consciously try hard to spend that amount on vaping.

It's Kinda hard Not to.

In that from the Time that an e-Liquid is made, it starts the "Steeping" process. So even when you do Nothing, your are Actually "Steeping".

A lot of places are adding their nic on the spot to the e-liquid. So, You should in theory let that steep as well... just depends.

so when it says recommend steep time i should wait that long to vape it?

I think Most of the Benefit of "Steeping" occurs in 4~5 Days.

Some Say that an e-Liquid tastes Better after 30 Days or Longer. And if they feel it does, Great. Go For It.

But to Me, I don't Taste any Real Difference of an e-Liquid after 5 Days as I do after a Month.

generally speaking, I steep any new juice I get in a small batch.

I find some flavors (sunch as bowdens mate form Five Pawn, or any mint really) taste alot better after steeping. it helps to bring out chocolate undertones in a minty chocolate.

but other flavors like cell block 4 tend ot taste bland after steeping for me. So I generally reserve it for dripping or small tanks.

Ultimately its up to the vapers tongue and their discretion. Its not something thats required, but if you like the taste of steeped watermellon, then by all means go for it.

my 2 cents anyways.
