I was a 30+ year smoker. I had tried cold turkey, nicotine lozenges, and Chantix. None of them allowed me to quit for more than a day. The cravings was just too much and I caved in. With vaping, I quit the day I started vaping and never looked back. I don't even think about having another cigarette again.

If anything it gets easier :D

I used to be a very heavy smoker - averaged 2 & a half packs a day

I still have to pinch myself to realise I no longer smoke as I can still hardly believe it - I also had tried just about everything else to help me stop smoking & nothing worked til I bought my first e-cig.

I guess everyone has their story this idea intrigues me though. I call myself an accidental quitter started vaping because I was going to another province to visit my ill mother, occasionally had a few cigs the first few weeks found I really didn't like them then started counting to see how many I smoked in a day got so they tasted terrible in the meantime I had changed gear and bought juice I didn't like and then found one I really did like -anyway haven't had a smoke since March 1st I think I have thought of a cigarette a couple of times -it seems to be because I have been Vaping a lower level nicotine - I have made a few of my own juices and wrapped a couple of coils for drippers- the flavour from the drippers is stronger I think and I guess I am wondering why folks would go back - I was a pad or more for 40 years and I still get a thrill knowing each and every week I have not given an extra $68.00 dollars in taxes to the government. I suppose if I desperately wanted one I would have one but quite frankly I haven't had anything more than a passing thought a few times and I think it just means my blood level nic needs a boost so a few toots on 18 mg per ml nic seems to do the trick - I probably vape a good solid 30 Mls per week shuffling between 12 mg per ml and 18 mg per ml and anyone who has ever known me is astonished that I quit -I am old enough to really not believe most of the bs about tobacco use -but the price and the insane taxation and the absurd rules re when and where finally made a difference still all that being said at the moment I much prefer Vaping to smoking and with diy juice it is considerably cheaper - if I can stay away from buying the toys -smile

For me it stayed easy. And I didn't even want to quit smoking. I think the fact that I started with 16mg nicotine helped (I'm now doing 12mg).

So, no physical cravings. But, mental cravings, yes. I'd wake up thinking, gee, wouldn't it be great to get that nice nicotine rush from a cigarette to start the day? And then I'd light up a cigarette. Unlike many others here, I didn't find it gross at all, but, physically, it just wasn't working like it used to. So I put it out before finishing it really.

Yes, its easier if you have it in mind that you want to get / stay off cigarettes. IIRC, the addiction to smoking can be really broken down into two parts, the physical nicotine addiction, and then the psychological addiction (the actual habit of walking away from everything for 5mins, act of smoking, etc).

E-Cigarrettes combats both, by giving you a safer alternative. You can feed your nicotine addiction and slowly ween yourself off, but still be able to do all the habits that were created from picking up smoking. Quitting smoking traditionally is tougher because you're eliminating the nicotine in too fast of a pace for your body to cope with. Hence nicotine withdrawals, but by slowly lowering the strength your body begins to return to its original state (nicotine-free).

Of course there are plenty of vapers out there who maintain the nicotine strength, but probably at a significantly lower consumption rate than traditional cigarettes.

It seemed easy the first week or so, but then I backslid and smoked 6 cigarettes since March 19th. For me the cravings are getting worse even though I know how awful it will taste. My next purchase will be WTA juice.

I should add, I realized I have not been inhaling my vape and I just made a point of doing it - it does seem to help the cravings. I have lung damage but it's better than smoking which I would do if I didn't vape.

This might be because of your current setup and eliquid (nic strength / flavor).

With cigarettes, you get a consistent experience each and every time. Unless you're smoking something stale.

I know for the first couple of weeks i was irritated by the fact I wasn't getting the same experience through my vape whenever I picked it up. Some hits were good, some were terrible. Sometimes the nicotine was too much for me or not enough.

If the nicotine strength is too low, it won't be able to compensate, too high and you'll get nicotine buzz / overdose and start feeling sick and dizzy. With vaping you have to remember that a vape session isn't really equivalent to a having a smoke.

I would look to getting yourself setup with something that will give you a consistent experience each time you pick it up, something with variable wattage, and pre-built coils in a tank. Then getting an eliquid in a flavor you like but in a nic-strength one step lower than what is recommended / considered the equivalent to what you would smoke for cigarettes. Getting 12mg instead of 18mg if you were almost a pack of day smoker.

I say one step lower, because if you feel like a craving on-coming you can vape more without being detrimental to your goal.

Yep, I tried that and I was chain vaping. I got higher nic and now I hit it sometimes a bit less. I did exactly what you recommend and I still have wicked cravings. Hopefully the WTA is the answer. I haven't given in in at least 2 or 3 weeks now though. Maybe that's why, I've hit the 3 week trouble zone ? I don't know.

Just received the WTA I ordered to help with feeling 'foggy' and major loss of motivation and energy. I was hesitant due to it being a bit more expensive, and wasn't sure it would help.
Ordered the vanilla (not really a fav of mine), but just can't do tobacco flavors. Two days of WTA has definitely helped in the areas I hoped it would, may have to try the citrus flavor next time though

I have asthma myself, so I know how careful one must be -- and I also have a major requirement for TH, but if it's too much, or too hot, that can give me a lot of problems. So I walk a tightrope between satisfaction and an asthma attack. As bad as cigarettes are, with all the crap they leave behind, they also somewhat anesthetize the bronchi, so my asthma, the general "tetchiness" of my lungs, has actually gotten somewhat worse, though I have very little coughing up anymore -- and I do have a lot more stamina; I can keep up with my husband, walking thru parking lots, and that takes some doing, when the mate in question is a former Marine! He's a very small person, but he's got that 36" stride right down pat. :D

If the cigarettes you've been smoking taste awful, but give you something you're missing in vaping, then you might benefit a great deal from WTA; it's worth a shot. It killed my cravings dead. Mind you, it won't do anything at all for purely psychological cravings, only the physical kind.

Wow, another positive vote for WTA. I don't really like tobacco flavors either now (or I really have to be in the mood for one, or I add a bit of menthol to it and it's better) so I'll get one of the other flavors when I order. Hopefully very soon.

Yes, I must try it. I know what you mean about the cigs anesthetizing the lungs. Also they open them up so while I'm smoking I feel better until I have to do anything physical. But I've only had 6 since March 19th and none in 2 to 3 weeks so there's that. I've been fighting the cravings and they come up at least once or twice an hour, sometimes very strong. I'm going to order the WTA as soon as I can. I hope it helps. :)
