Does Rob mill down existing non-LP Reos?

I am pulling the trigger on the Odins as we speak and want to get my Grands milled down so that they will accommodate these beasts. Does Rob do this, and if so what is the cost? Thanks in advance!

Would call him, but I keep really weird hours for work, and our cell service out here is less than ideal for making calls.

Thanks in advance!

A 10" mitre saw will mill the cup. Extreme caution and accuracy should be used.

Hahaha. Yeah, that's an understatement! I would definitely not use a saw for this. I was actually thinking it would be really easy to just run it up against a flat platen on a 2x72 belt grinder. It would be really easy to take a little bit at a time that way. Unfortunately I won't be anywhere near one of those until I go on days off here in a couple of months.

He does. My suggestion would be to PM him for deets (cost, timing).

Note that milling would leave the cap raw (whatever finish you had on the unit would be removed). Not a big deal if you're just going to cover it with an atty.

Will do, and the raw finish is all good. I would be doing my emerald green that I have since sanded down to bare aluminum first anyway. Can't do both at the same time obviously, unless I just go ahead and buy a new LP/SL like I am considering right now...

And I can hear you guys already...

I'm thinking of changing my black anodized to low pro...was going to go for a zenith. Then I second guessed spending 120 on an Atty when I'm perfectly happy with my rm2s.

It would be easy enough to lp my grand on a 12" disc sander... How much are the Odin's and do they already come in bf?

Thanks
Geo

Yeah a disc sander would do the trick. I have been interested in swapping out my RM2s for a while simply because I much prefer stainless construction over the brass in the RM2. I am also getting tired of the little tiny post holes in the newer RM2 that I have, and have been in the market for an AFC rba solution for a while. These seem to fit the bill in all categories, even though they are a bit wonky on the large side sitting on a Reo, the reports of performance are off the charts. I mean, I think Russ sold his Chalices because of these, if I am reading correctly.

Yes, the Odins are available in BF. Just ordered a pair. Odin - RDA - Bottom Feeder | Loki Lab

I got an LP thinking I might want to add another atty, but to be honest anout it. I dont feel that I need to spend loads of money when the RM2 works great. If I did want to do dual coils, then I most likely would get the RM3 because many already tested it and comfirms its just as good as the RM2. I vape like I used to smoke for 30 yrs- which is mouth to lung.

Besides... I would rather support our master Mod maker who designs atomizers specifically for the magical REO. Just dont know if the RM2 can be beat as far as flavor and taste go. And you gotta keep in mind the simplicity involved in getting it fire like a missle. :)

My RM2s have served me well. Don't get me wrong. I particularly like the fact that the top piece screws onto the base. As far as hard use goes, banging around in bags and cupholders, etc., that is a GREAT feature. The ceramic deck is also nice, although once you have done a couple of builds, the chances of your coil touching the deck are basically nil. If the coil is that low, the vape is going to suck bigtime. Rob's work on the RM2 is impeccable, obviously.

What I don't like about the RM2, and which pushed me into buying a Chalice, is that the post holes are seemingly pointed in arbitrary directions, and after many builds, tend to spin a little in their holes, causing the angle of the wire going into them to be very acute and making the coil legs too long. I have also had a terrible time finding drip tip / o-ring combinations that allow for a snug fit in the RM2. It's kind of ridiculous that the tolerance of the cap hole isn't a little tighter. I got some of the press-fit tapered Cherry Vapes delrin wide bore tips, and they work perfectly as far as fit (more tips should be designed like this), except the bore is so huge that the flavor suffers bigtime. I got a second RM2, and it was right after they started coming with the little micro post holes that don't play well with larger gauge wire. If Rob was in control of the initial manufacture of the base that the RM2 is built on, it would be a totally different product, quality control wise. I can't hate on the RM2. I have been an RM2 / Reo guy exclusively for almost a year now and they have served me VERY well.

As it is, I have been looking for a stainless steel option for a while, and these seem to be a good solution.

I'm in the process of paying tribute to Rob as I type this, as I have the LP/SL page open and am trying to pick out the color of my third Reo, which I will be ordering sometime this morning after going back and forth.

You might try taping some wire pliers (so you dont scrarch it up) and then turning the posts in a more desirable direction. This should give you a better angle at doing the coils.
I have the direct opposite experience with drips. I use a ss "shorty" tip that has a superb black O-ring on it. I have to yank and pull all the time to get it out of the RM2. I actually had to change the Oring because of this. I used the white one that came on the black drip tip with the RM2. Its very easy to remove now as I need it that way because of the sqonking learning curb.
Ive been using stainless steel atties for a long time now, and I can taste a difference in flavor when comparing it to the Brass RM2. Could just be me though.
I do wish you luck with your new atomizer. Hope it equals the vape you've been getting from the RM. :)

I was able to get the posts to a place where they are usable, but not really ideal by any measure. I am afraid that any more torque on them would result in breaking one of them off, which would not be bueno.

As far as the drip tips, I wish! I have one ming drip tip, which was the first one I ever bought, that actually fits relatively well. I tried probably a half dozen different o-rings before I found one that works pretty well. All the rest of my drip tips sit in a box somewhere.

Thanks. Yeah if not, I will go back to the RM2 until I find something better.
