Before you put your carto in the tank , do you fully prime your carto or do you stick it in dry ?
Once you punch your holes , drip
eliquid into the top of the cartos until
juice starts to come out your punched holes.... Let's you know that the carto is completely saturated. Then insert it in the tank and fill with juice, close it up and vape until empty.
When I first started using cartos I inserted them in dry and filled the tank and sucked as hard as I could to prime it, after a few drags a bad burnt taste like no other would start. After a few hours of letting it sit, it would give me a few good toots then burnt again..... I now completely prime and sometimes completely submerge my cartos then insert them in tanks and fill them up. Cartos only work if they are wet/moist.
Try either fully priming and/or submerging them with liquid before use. See if that helps.
