If only your last statement had been true...
In your mind:
"ProVari stands behind its warranty=Evolv sucks and Brandon is a liar"
"ProVari will warranty beyond its strict obligation=ProVari is ripping people off by charging a second year warranty"
"ProVari has the best service=Evolv won't service their equipment"
These are wild conclusions.
You argued with Oz even though he never said a word about your pet vendor. You picked three fights in this thread, and the post trail is obvious to anyone who can read. I have no issue with Evolv, DNA mods, or Brandon. ProVari is the gold standard of service and warranty. This is a almost unanimously held industry opinion. I have never heard a single complaint about ProVari service or warranty claims. I have heard many about the DNA mods. Even most of those who don't particularly like ProVari concede that the service and warranty is the best.
Does this make Brandon a crook or Evolv a dishonorable vendor? Absolutely not. But the industry perception is:
ProVape service/warranty > Evolv service/warranty.
Deal with it.
I agree about my last statements in that post...that was the point, and thanks for making the corrections!
This is all I was trying to do with the posts about Evolv and warranty service.
It doesn't have to get personal. I'm not calling people trolls and throwing blame around about who picks what fights. I just wanted to set the record straight about how warranties generally work, why the Darwin's was a little more complicated, and that to my knowledge Evolv has not been 'blowing people off'.
Way back, I made a list of excellent voltage/wattage regulators. I only did it because someone SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED the information.
Of course they can break during installation, or be put into an unreliable mod, but the regulators are solid and Evolv is more than reasonable in helping modders trouble shoot them and get things up and running. Warranting a 'modder's part' is a whole different ball park from warranting an 'entire mod'.
Someone went off on the Darwin because it was mentioned in a list of several other regulators that EXIST and they DO provide a signal as flat and steady as the ProVari, and then followed up with rumors or made up stuff about Darwin service, then he came back later to do the same about the Kick using phrases like, 'Brush off customers'.
I did not argue with Oz, twice I apologized for quoting him, as my initial beef goes back to the post (which I deem to be false based on my own personal experience) about Darwin transferred warranties being refused. I intended to argue with follow up posts by others, who accused me of 'jumping to wild conclusions'. Meanwhile, the posts accusing Evolv of blowing off consumers go unchecked while every little mistake I make gets 'troller status, and kicked out of the sand-box'.
Evolv asked for an invoice to confirm whether or not the BATTERY was still warranted. It was about the DATE OF PURCHASE, not who had originally purchased it. They would still take it an repair it, even if it had passed the warranty....for a locked in price promised at the time of the PV purchase.
I was also called a 'troller' and told to 'go play in another sandbox', and told 'what to do with my time'. By at least two different posters...and this was long before the sarcastic rant about double standards.
The whole thread of logic is simple...The warranty and service policies for both companies are not all that different. The products they are servicing on the other hand, are quite different.
I DID NOT ARGUE WITH OZ...
I asked some questions and he jumped me for 'trolling and told me to get out of the sand box'.
I apologized TWICE for quoting him.
Then I added other points about 'other posts' made by 'other people'.
The point is...why is a company wrong for checking the purchase date and other 'terms of service' on your Mod before taking it in for repair? I'd imagine ProVape does it as well if it's obviously one of the models that has been out in the wild more than 12 months. Perhaps it's more invisible to the end consumer (a serial number or something similar linked to their data base). If they don't...then it's important to note they aren't putting in a LiPo battery pack (a pretty expensive and time consuming process)
I agree that quoting Oz was a mistake...I was still too wrapped up in defending my 'pet vendor' as you put it, but someone made false statements about the reasons for Evolv verifying purchase dates on products he warranted.
Why is it 'trolling' to try to set that record straight...
Your correcting my sarcastic rant about the price of end caps, etc...is 'setting the record straight'.
I'm fine with that...
Calling people trolls and accusing them of picking fights...etc.
All Double standards......
If you put a DNA chip-set in a MOD chassis as good as the ProVari, would it stand the test of time as the ProVari obviously has?
We don't know the answer yet...
I'm done with this thread.
Let it die please folks (comments directed to my posts that is...continue on with the rest), and I will do the same.
If you have a personal gripe with it, please PM me instead.
